Just loading up our new 418 for our 2nd ever trip and noticed that in the wardrobe there is a panel that gives access to behind the heater. Is this the mythical laundry space mentioned in the brochure? And is it safe to use, being right next to the heater?

I don't think It would be practical in my mind. To use it for laundry you would have to leave the shelf free or move "stuff" every time you put laundry in or out. Mine also houses the charger for the leisure battery so can't be covered. It does get nice and toasty warm in there when the fire is on though.

That's what I was thinking, just seems a very easy to access hatch though. Maybe I'll get my Wife to translate the German brochure rather than rely on the English version. May find some hidden gems, never know! :)

My handbook for the Triton 420 states that you should NOT use the space below the wardrobe and behind the Truma heater for storage. I'm not familiar with your van's interior, but guess that the mystery laundry storage facility might be the surprisingly large cubbyhole just behind the toilet. It has quite a small access door, but is great for stuffing away dirty garments (in a bag of course).
