Hi All,
Just switched from a Burstner Elegance 690 motorhome to a Touring Troll 540. Always admired the Eriba and the economy of space/ comfort achieved by the designers .
I'm hoping some of you Eriba Folk can help me. I'm a cyclist as is my wife. Has anyone had a Thule Caravan Superb Standard Bike Rack fitted to the draw bar of a Troll 540? When I checked the underneath of the front end I noticed there wasn't an A Frame, rather just a single draw bar.

I checked the Eriba website and has a Bike Rack that fits all Touring models, but looks very like the Thule Superb!

Anyone offer advice.

Brax

Brax,
Frantone does I believe have that fitted to his nice new shinny 540 so he may be able to advise.
If you are poor, or mean, like me, you could have a plate made up that bolts to the jockey wheel bracket onto which bolts a flange style towball. You can use a £55 Thule carrier on this, like the one sold in Decathlon and other good stores. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/xpress-970-t...id_8176983.html
Have a look at this thread for inspiration The simplest (and cheapest?) front-mounted bike rack fitting.

Colin is right as usual. Which is as it should as winner of this year’s Eriba Oscar for technical help. 😄
The diy plate and ball to attach the Thule Express is the simple and cheapest method.
The Thule Superb Short as fitted by AL involves some sub frame braces because there is no A frame to bolt it on.
The bike support on this is excellent giving a strong stable attachment which also tilts to allow access to the gas locker.
Express is versatile in that it can simply be taken off and remounted in the car towball for bikencarrying when the caravan is not present. However the ‘hanging’ bikes are not as stable as the standing bikes!
Being older now and less strong I find the Thule Superb Short a lot easier to manage.

We have a draw bar attached tow ball which was fitted to our Triton when we bought it. This is stupidly expensive so Colin's solution is probably better. We use a Thule Xpress carrier (so it can be switched to the car). I found that with our bikes, the wheels tended to foul the jockey wheel crank, so modified the carrier so the bikes can fit on either side. check out this link... minor mod to Thule Xpress bike rack

The gas locker is out of operation in any case so having the inboard bike close to the locker isn't an issue. I always remove the pedals from the inboard bike and swivel the handlebars round which makes everything much easier, although with bikes of this size you do need to be careful fitting and removing them. Once well strapped in place they are very stable and no problem operating the jockey wheel (just watch your knuckles).

When fitting the Xpress to the car you will need to move the carrier bars back to their original holes though.

Just reminded me Frantone that I have Colins Oscar to present. I was thinking of asking Jennifer Aniston to do the deed, what you think ?

Nice idea but can’t you think of somebody with a bit of glamour?
What about Anne Widecombe?
