For years, I used Gillette triple blades, and then like you I thought they were bloody expensive, so bought an Aldi razor and blades which cost a quarter of the price.
The Aldi razor is as good if not better.
I also use 'King of Shaves' gel, as you can squeeze as much or as little as you want out of the tube.
When I was in hospital for three weeks after my accident I didn't bother shaving as it was too difficult and I couldn't be bothered. I must admit I looked a mess at the end and a few gentle hits from my wife made me trim it to a goatie.

Many years ago I bought a Philips electric (battery) razor around £10,
they are probably nearer £15 now, it works a treat for such a cheap razor.
