joy stick type aerial

i see these days there are aerial that look like a joy stick and i rightly or wrongly cant imagine there very good compared to a traditional aerial particularity in areas of bad signal in the hills. does any one have any experience of them?

I'm not sure what you mean by "jo stick type aerial", this sounds more like one of the wi-fi signal amplifier set-up you can buy.
I bought a compact Avtex aerial https://www.capitaloutdoors.co.uk/collec...s/avtex-sth3000 and I'm very impressed with it. You can get them for about £36 if you shop around.
