Grrrr! Water Ingress Test

So had the very expensive water ingress test done in June on our 30 month old Troll, this is after visiting Adventure Leisure twice for warranty faults including new window seals. Today it is raining, for the first time in ages and the rainwater is p155ing in through the rear window. The van is not parked up in its usual place on the drive as we've just got back from a two week break and I needed easy access to get inside and clean and make ready for the next trip which will be back to Tebay again and not somewhere peaceful and relaxing. So how efficient is the water ingress test? Not very it would seem. Glad we had it done though or it will cost us a fortune to get fixed. Another 230 mile round trip.

I'm cross - really cross our 12 year old Triton was never this much bother.

Denise - (fuming quietly but due to get louder very very soon)

What they don't realise is that although I am now a grey haired pensioner in my not too distant youth I was a FIERY redhead.

Update
Thought we'd contact the Edwin Hymer Centre in Stafford on the off chance that they could help

After exchanging a few emails with appropriate details of VIN and service details they contacted Hymer and have confirmed that the issue can be dealt with under warranty (hooray)

So instead of a long winded trip to Tebay involving a two night stop over we can now travel a mere 43 miles to Stafford drop the van off and go and spend the day with 1 of 4 in Stoke.

That’s good news but the Tebay mob need to be told about your lack of satisfaction and trust.

Just got home from Stafford- Marmite Too all mended and watertight again. It turns out that the rear windows seal which was replaced under a recall by Adventure Leisure Tebay was the problem. Window removed, new seal fitted window replaced water ingress test repeated - bingo no leak.

Lovely set up at Stafford, polite and helpful staff, full details of the problems experienced noted down on job sheet, full explanation of the work done and caravan brought to the car and hitched up by the staff.

So we've booked the service due next year with them for May. Quoted just under £400 for the service and water ingress test including VAT. Not the cheapest but they do inspire confidence. Off to Anglesey next weekend for the Race of Remembrance (Mission Motorsport charity that we support) so we shall see if everything is tickety boo.

Just like to endorse the view of the Stafford team. Customer service is definitely a strongpoint. Pricey, but our van is going back for a service/ingress test later this year.

Update

Rear window seal replaced at Erwin Hymer centre Stafford, extended water ingress test performed by them all ok.

Spent last weekend at Anglesey racetrack for the Race of Remembrance and boy oh boy did it rain! - No Leak all good

So impressed with the set up at Stafford we have already made the service booking for next year - Adventure Leisure could learn a thing or two we will not be going back

How long have they been around as I notice they sell Eriba Tourers as well?

In answer to the previous PM.

Since 1977 Travelworld have been a very respected dealer in the quality ********* market place. Some years ago Hymer decided to create a UK wide network for their Hymer products appointing a number of established ********* outlets around the UK to market the Hymer brand. Travelworld was one of those dealers. Subsequently Travelworld were appointed an Erwin Hymer Center. This meant they only marketed products built by the Ermin Hymer Group whose ********** are among the most luxurious production ********** built. Travelworld are the only Erwin Hymer Centre in the UK and there are only a handful of these centres appointed in Europe. As you are aware a few years ago Hymer appointed a few Eriba dealerships in the UK. I assume Travelworlds agreement with the Ermin Hymer Group meant they should also stock Hymer caravans as they do now sell them. About a year or so ago it was announced that Travelworld would market and service Eriba Caravans. They have a reputation to maintain and that comes with a cost. Need I say more.

Wenn Sie hier auf Links zu eBay klicken und einen Kauf tätigen, kann dies dazu führen, dass diese Website eine Provision erhält.

The quote for the service and water ingress warranty for next year is about £70 more expensive than we paid this year at Adventure Leisure Tebay.

However Tebay is a round trip of 250 Miles - Stafford is a round trip of 84

Stafford we can do in a day - drop off at nine pick up at four home by half five
Tebay set off a day early pitch up overnight drop off at eight pick up at four and back to site for another overnight stop cost around £50 .

Admittedly we could set off at four in the morning to get to Tebay and leave there at 4pm and drive home for four hours but we feel that it is unadvisable we do not like towing the the dark and access up the single track main (only) road into our village is narrow and unlit.

Overall the costs are about the same but the confidence factor with Travelworld in Stafford is immensely higher
