Door retaining catch replacement

This has to be the simplest and cheapest maintenance job ever, well within anyone's capability.

The catch on our door wasn't holding and I was worried that the wind would catch it slamming and damaging the door in the process or even injuring anyone unlucky enough to be in the way.

This type of catch is known as a "Veneta Catch" and there are lots of them for sale on eBay. Mine cost £2.50 delivered. Before you order, measure the distances between the screw holes on the door and caravan waist rail so as to be sure that it will fit. (On mine they were 45mm on the door and 30mm on the caravan body.)

When I removed the mounting screws there was so much sealant on the threads that I simply refitted them as they were.

You mean the one that AL thought should be replaced when they serviced the van because it had a carefully sited and drilled hole through it???

Just a thought, Christine, but did you refit the part attached to the door the right way round? As shown in the picture below, the wider end of the catch needs to face towards the rear of the caravan.
