Putting a hot water supply in our Triton 430

Our Eriba doesn't have a hot water boiler and I am thinking that a 10 lt. Propex electric boiler may be a good economic option to fit. ( about £180 ) I suspect that the Propex cold water supplied from the largest water tank under the Kitchen sink, would have a dual hot outlet tee linking the x2 hot water request zones(kitchen sink and shower +sink ) with a common hot supply.
Is there a recommended way to link the x2 --- eg an insulated sub floor pipe? or other?
Has any one' any views on the proposed plan please?

Back in 2011 I fitted one of the then fairly new to the market 10L Propex water heaters to my Familia 310GT. They are a nice unit and preferable to the Truma unit factory fitted to Eribas.
For the conversion you ideally need to replace your two water cannisters with one underseat onboard 30/35L minimum tank that you fill from outside the van. Unless your van is very new then the taps you have installed will be cold only. To upgrade these is not cheap. All pipework needs to be run inside the van [use red and blue not clear] . The upgrade on my one sink Familia cost me about £400, so for two sinks I think you would now be looking at around £700 and a good full couple of days work.

It is also possible to run a hot water system from an external tank or supply.
Not sure why you always avoid mentioning this.

Hi Thanks all for your advice.
Previously we had a Gobur with all the bells and whistles, The carver hot water system was brill. It seemed simple insofar as the whale in- line pump , drowning in the 40 ltre rollertank outside pressurised the whole system, and the x3 hot supplies divided somewhere under the floor. As did the cold supplies. We tended to use the 40litres most days. What bliss!
The current Triton 430 has x2 separate cold tanks and x2 pumps to pump from them. The large under kitchen tank is 30lts and seems as though it might be a bit tight to fill, seeing that we haven't an outside filling point as yet? Surely if you use CL sites a bit , you still have to haul fresh water to the Triton with a long hose or in a roller tank, and then pump or watering can it to the interior tanks. Not good if you have two left & possibly muddy feet. On the plus side the Triton has mixer taps so those will help save some cash.
I think we will try the existing setup soon and if its a bit too faffy we'll just have ti bite the bullet and Gobur- ise the water situation. Also use the electric 10 lt. Propex.
Another minor thing, when I plugged in the ext. power cord 240v. and looked into the wardrobe to see if any warning lights were lit, nothing seemed to be shining. As usual when all else fails I read the instruction book and it seemed to want me to trip the trip button and re boot it - Still no lights or gauges.
I've left it on for 20 hours as recommended and will go and check the battery with a V. meter. A bit faffy. Any advice please??
Many thanks

I'm guessing from earlier posts your 430 is the twin dinnette model. Best location for the Propex would be under the seating next to the wardrobe. Here you can easily T both hot and cold and run through the van around under the back window to the kitchen. If you go for the Aquaroll route then I'd guess this location would be ideal. If you went for large onboard tank I'm not sure if you have space for the tank here as the Propex is a big unit. Fiamma sell something suitable and CATANKS ? sell lots of useful bits. If you are prepared to wait they will bond the fittings you need directly onto the tank of your choice in the location you require making life a lot easier. You would fill the tank from the outside with a watering can.
If you had to go the Truma route then from memory I believe they have been fitted underneath the rear window in the shallow floor storage.
As regards the electrics, not sure if you are looking for the 230v or 12v to be working. Have you got a 12v master rocker switch on the outside of the wardrobe along with some light switches?

Hi Colin
I had hoped the external 240v supply was powering the battery charger but couldn't tell for sure. 20hrs later I checked the rested voltage over the battery terminals and it was over 13v. so I guess the charger worked ok and the accu is in good heart.
I have bought a small LED button voltmeter (motorbike) before from E-Bay for a couple of quid in the past, I'll fit one in somewhere and it'll indicate the state of the charger.
