I don't know anything about this topic, Graham, other than that Pure radios etc. have a very good reputation. We have one of their small DABs in the house and another radio/alarm beside the bed

can run off normal aa but must not charge
good sound and its small to hide

I have one of those Roberts radio's for use at home
In the Eriba I use a pure evoke 2 ...........they used to come with a slot for a memory card which I use to play mp3 music but for some reason they don't have that any more but there is an aux in socket on the back for an ipod or mp3 player.
The only downside is if you don't want to use it on mains the battery pack they sell for it is over 20 quid extra so I just use mine on the mains.

I had seen the memory card slot before and liked the idea, still do at the moment I am torn between Pure and Roberts, I like the Sensia but it's been around for a while now Some of the displays are ok but could be so much better imho

I purchased a Pure Evoke Mio a few years back to go in the Eriba. I chose the brown leather efect version as it seemed to 'fit' the Eriba in both colour and style. Then I discovered Pianoman had purchased a red version. Now I see JL only stock leery colours http://www.johnlewis.com/pure-evoke-mio-...=Cherry#default

We have the little Roberts DAB sports radio, it has an inbuilt speaker which is more than load enough for the van. It also has an inbuilt rechargeable battery. Mine is five years old and still going strong.

We have a Pure Dab radio, but to honest tend to tune in to FM more than the Dab channels.
Don't think Dab is as good as we were hoping

We've just bought a Cambridge Audio Minx Go speaker. Bluetooth connection to your pad, phone and tablet, and an aux input for an mp3 player. Rechargeable battery gives 18 hours playback between charges. Being rechargeable gives it portability, so you can move the sound into the awning without plugging in an extension lead. You could even take it to the beach to annoy people!!
It apparently won an award as product of the year for a device under £150. For sale at £99.99 on Amazon. We got ours yesterday from Richer Sounds, charged it overnight and tried it out this morning indoors. First indications are that it's a brilliant bit of kit.
Can't wait for Monday so we can try it in Audrey on our trip to Bridgnorth.

Snap!
We have one of those and think its brill!
It has a full, rich sound and it means we can take it into the awning or outside so that it can be close to us so that we do not have to turn the volume up high.
