I had an interesting few minutes this morning, a caller identified himself as a Microsoft employee and started telling me that there had been unauthorised use of my laptop and it had been left it with a serious cluster of threatening software.
I thanked them for the information and hung up, the caller then phoned again but I noticed the telephone number was different, this time it was a mobile number again I made an excuse and hung up. What was intriguing was the call appeared to be coming from a call centre judging from the background noise.
Then to my surprise I had another phone call, same guy, different phone number. I took the phone to my son and explained what was going on, he listened for a while then hung up, the phone rang again same guy. This happened a couple more times again with different phone numbers. This time he wanted the Microsoft operating system registration number "to compare" with the one he had.
He was told in no uncertain terms that he was scamming, the reg. number could be used for counterfeiting software. Beware.
I have been getting calls from a number beginning with 001 this is an international call from india which is also a computer scam.
I never answer my phone unless someone leaves me a message on the answerphone
I figure I pay for the phone so its for my use ...............anyone wants to talk to me badly enough will leave me a message .......the rest get ignored unless I recognise the number when I dial 1471

If your not in my contact list then you can do one I block any number I don't know and that sorts that out, sometimes I've answered another mobile and I usually hail some obscenities if nothing else it makes me feel better
I know some of you will be shocked that Agger knows such words But he does, so accept him for what he is

are you TPS registered Telephone Preference Service, it free and stops these folk ringing...
We've been registered with the TPS for yonks, and the number of calls trying to get us to buy house alarms, double glazing, loft insulation, solar panels and insurance continues to rise.
And that's not counting the scams, shysters and fraudsters.

I was when we had a home phone but thats why I don't now have one. I told! BT I paid for the line and even being ex directory did'ny stop it, so I told BT to disconnect me that was about 17 years ago I am still contemplating cutting there phone cable to my house but I'm afraid the house might fall down if I do

Friends of ours have a challenge to see how long they can keep them on the line. Two of the best have been one, who after 30mins, asked them how they were accessing the laptop which was in a shipping container halfway from Australia. The other after 20mins letting them know that they actually have an apple lol
