The car make I've always wished I could own but the camping pod I don't wish to own. Decisions, decisions. Would I, wouldn't I? Well it is a very little "Motorhome" isn't it?

That's interesting. Not seen one of those either. There must be more unusual conversions around too. I wonder if they're "one offs" taken to a coachbuilder for rejigging or are they small production runs?

Just for info!

the Clio above was a small production run made by a guy called Barry Stimson in Southampton in the 90's - the work was done on new Clios and only the hatch-back door was removed. Even then the original rear window was re-used in the new fibre-glass rear door. I believe Stimson went on to make a number of other products

Advertised as 4-berth (but we used the pop-top for storage). It included a two-burner gas hob, 2-seater "sofa" and dining table, sink and even a full-height shower. All built into the rear of the Clio. But I must admit we found the drive-away tent an essential addition!

I can remember the Make but cannot remember seeing the range of campervans produced in the 50s and early 60s.

The Standard Atlas. This is a 1960 model but there were dozens of variants.

I remember meeting an English couple in France in an Austin A60 Suntour Caravanette, in my VW days in the seventies.We were staying somewhere on the cote d'azur and they said they were having to go home because the water in their tank was running out and they didn't trust foreign water!! It was like a script from a carry on film!
