Electrifying biles!

Anybody in the Eriba world using retro fitted electric motors to their bicycles? We’ve got a couple of excellent hybrid bikes that we’re very happy with, but as 60 looms ever closer (2 years to the bus pass- terrifying) I’ve been thinking about fitting electric motors to them. Last year, in the vineyards around Beaune, the cycle routes described by the student working in the campsite as “flat” were anything but. In the 30 degree heat, there was, to use a good Scottish word, much peching. Any advice gratefully received!

A 60 year old this year has to wait until they are 66 to get a bus pass in England

Too true Sooty but we can't use it in England or Scotland. I wonder what folk living in Hay on Wye have to do if they want to take the bus to Hereford?

Regarding motorised bikes, I don't know about retrofits but the Electric bikes the Grafos have are a bit frightening at first. They seem to take over (especially when Neil selects 3 gear for you to start off with )

I was going to suggest editing your thread title but decided that it might attract more attention from curious members as it is. 😄

While looking for this link I used the term "Push Bike" and remembered the huge laughter it created last year when we talked about push bikes to a Dutch man. He was very amused.

"Push Bike" you are so posh. I remember them being called push-irons, and I'm a youngster.

My mis-spell could have been much worse - electrifying piles, anyone?
Seriously though, yes - I’m Scottish, and still keen to explore electric bikes!

You may find this article of interest: 5 best bike conversion kits

The top rated one is currently in the region of £600 on Amazon but I suppose you get what you pay for. Other cheaper kits are available.

I can't help thinking that your best option would be to trade your existing bikes in against new electric ones from a dealer.
