What bits have you bought for the 2020 season

I'll get the ball rolling with two purchases so far:-
1 - Original Remoska in excellent condition for £15 + £3 p&p, a bargain. Bought as a spare as the one we have is about 30yrs old and at that price I had to.
2 - EMUK towing mirrors, model specific for your car. I'll blame the nice Pepé Le Pew for me now being about £105 worse off as he told me to get them. They are lovely so I'll forgive him. I'd been looking for a set for nealy a year when I found a German site on e-bay that has a wider range if you go directly to them out of e-bay. Worth a look.and they resond to e-mails in English. e-mail: info@l-parts.de website: www.l-parts.de

3 - work in progress, a Fiamma 260 front sun blocker for my Fiamma Caravanstore 280. This is in the 2020 brochure but not in the UK yet.

EMUK towing mirrors...
The first thing I did with mine (apart from making sure that they fitted) was to shorten the extension tubes that the mirrors clamp to.

Goes without saying that the further out the mirrors are the better view you have, but with them as they come they stick out so far that you run the risk of walloping them on something.

Half the reason these caravans are such a doddle to tow is that if the car fits through a gap, the van will too. Put a pair of mirrors that stick out getting on for a foot further on each side and not only do you make the car unnecessarily wide but you have to think twice about whether the whole rig will fit through a gap you'd have breezed through before.

The tubes on mine are now just over two inches long from where it goes into the casting to the end of the rubber cap.

I cut a lot off.

I still get a view which is miles better than not having the mirrors at all, I haven't had to reset my brain's gap judgement and I don't find myself flinching in anticipation of an expensive bang and a face full of glass if we meet anything wider than a small van coming the other way.

I've bought a Thule wind screen. Arrived yesterday morning. I'll be back on here fairly soon asking for advice on fitting the fixing brackets to the Eriba.

Hi All as Pepe has pointed out the arm may need to be shortened as
"mirrors should not stick out too far: to prevent your tow car becoming an additional hazard, there is a maximum distance of 25cm that the mirrors must not extend beyond the width of your caravan; this is reduced to a maximum of 20cm on cars manufactured prior to 26th January 2007."

It also means they should be removed if the car is used solo. It could invalidate insurance.

Thanks for the tips. The Eriba is off for a service in a couple of weeks time, so I'll get it out and hooked up a day or so early to set the mirrors and cut down the bars.I'll start tentatively using the length of my Milenco Aeros as a guide as I know they give a good view. Question is Pepe, what have you found best, mirror glass vertical or horizontal.

Bought Mrs C a collapsible colander for Christmas - well I thought it was amusing - luckily had something more substantial behind the tree so did not end up wearing the turkey!

Bought for me for Christmas by one of the kids as I was rather taken with the ones he had fitted to his vehicle. They are quite good.

I wouldn't want to speak out of turn, but I doubt even the most fastidious person would take a whole day to shorten two bits of tube. Half an hour tops, and that includes refitting the rubber ends.

Don't trust my judgement, try it yourself.

I shouldn't figure in your manual of best practice.

Not by a long way.

Thanks,
I can promise you the cutting down will not take a day. I have to find time inbetween painting jobs and probably rain to get the van out and on the road lined up.
I'm also going to descale the loo, which I cannot do whilst the Eribais in the garage up against a wall, hence a day.
