We have a new (to us) Triton 430 (2015) and it had an omnistor awning. We removed this as we want to use an ordinary awning, but there are no awning brackets on the Erica. We want to put some on, but not sure how to measure to fit them. Anyone know?

We have a clair val kit o vent awning

Hi and

With regards fitting an awning. If you click on 'Picture Gallery' above and scroll down to Eriba Awnings, there are 184 pics there so this may help.

From memory it is 2.95m apart for the end two, but best thing is to lay the awning out and measure along the awning cord.
When you fix the brackets drill 2.5mm pilot holes for the screws and then use a 4mm drill in your fingers to make the holes in the plastic trim bigger. Don't forget to pump mastic into the holes, not silicon. I think you need 25 x 3.5mm raised/dome-head stainless screws.

I know it seems like a daft question but is your Clairval Kitovent awning not an air awning? The new ones are.

Presumably, this is the one you've got?

Going on from what Mr Motters says in post #3 above, these are the end brackets you'll need:-
Awning Rail Brackets :- https://www.caravancanopyshop.co.uk/prod...g-rail-brackets

One on each end and it's highly likely you'll need a centre bracket too. First you'll need to check the shortest upright pole in your bag of awning poles. It'll be about 300mm long and may have a spike at both ends or a spike at one end and a universal "spider" pipe connector at the other. If it does then you'll need a third bracket like those above, to be fitted in the centre of the van rail and equidistant between the two end brackets, to accomodate the spike..

If your shortest pole has a spike or universal "spider" on one end but a flattened end to the other then you'll need one of these to accommodate the flattened end:-
"Footman's Loop" or "Check Strap Bracket" :- https://www.customandcommercial.com/vw-s...bus_55-67_2440/

This is an interesting thread which shows the "Footman's Loop" or "Check Strap Bracket"
Awning rail fixings

One thing to bear in mind is after you've measured the length of the awning cord as per Mr Motter's comments, please ensure that you position the end brackets so as to miss the door opening AND the rear side window opening otherwise the side of the awning will foul the door or window.

Many thanks for the replies. We have the awning brackets - hubby got some from Dom Fox. Might have to get the “foot mans loop”.
