Hi
Just started to take off the handles and cover pieces prior to fitting new Herzim bead. I would like to know, if possible, the name of the product that Eriba use to seal the screw holes - it looks and feels mighty good!
Thanks
Bob

I don't recall anybody being able to source the "factory snot" used by Hymer.
The trade when fitting and sealing use Sikaflex. It is an elastic gap filling sealant adhesive. It goes stiff but not hard. If you use the search facilty the correct number is out there somewhere, but I seem to recall 221 or 227. This is very expensive stuff and the likes of Screwfix do another product from the range.
I have used and others have subsequently this product also from Screwfix https://www.screwfix.com/p/geocel-trade-...rey-310ml/72630

The Hymer factory snot sealant is Teroson 2759. It was what Jandi supplied me when I was changing out my windows, it's not cheap but very good quality.

If that is the stuff that Hymer use, then well done that man for finding it. I am confused though as the Butyl I've used in the past has set and become stiff, nothing like the Hymer snot.

Hi Colin, it's what Jandi use, I have also used it for sealing my Puck handles when I took them off, it's almost like chewing gum. I have still got some in the workshop, I'll take a picture of it when I can.

Tigerseal is fantastic stuff, I've used it many times in car body repairs and it remains permanently flexible. It is available from Halfrauds and (the one I go to ) Euro Car Parts amongst others. Polyurethane sealants are probably the most durable and adaptable sealants available at the moment.
Here's a little bit of blurb:
TIGER SEAL is a one component polyurethane sealant and adhesive and is ideal for a number of automotive applications. It will permanently seal and stick body panels and trim. Will seal around windows, doors, lights etc. It will stick to most materials such as steel, aluminium, glass and most plastics.

Cheers,
Steve.

Thanks Steve
I’ve looked at Tiger Seal and although it looks the business, I don’t want an adhesive.
When I screw back the grab handles, grab brackets and Herzim end covers, I need a flexible seal of some sort (I’m trying to find a strip material like Blu Tak).
Any other ideas most welcome...
Thanks
Bob

Bobb,
you will not find any sealant behind the grab handles, its in the screw holes.
When you take the handles off, which on your van are still probably plastic, be very careful with the screw cover/flaps. Once off give the handles a good scrub with 1 part bleach to 4 parts water and leave in the liquid over night. They should come up like new.

Yes, I can see now that the (grubby so i ‘ll try bleaching..) plastic grab handles do just have filled screw holes.
However, the metal brackets on the full width stern grab tube does seem to have some sort of sticky Blu Tak material on them.....

I am going to take the plunge and order some mastic tape (apparently this is used behind awning rails....) thank Pepe.

Ok, thanks very much. I’ll see what I think of the mastic tape when it arrives but If I don’t think that’s fit for my purpose I’ll order some Terostat.
There’s no rush.....

Ahhh.... I see. OK then, the best sealer without adhesive (or only very slight adhesive) properties that I have ever used is called Seal Once - this stuff:
https://www.abbuildingproducts.co.uk/seal-once.html
Without doubt a cut above everything else I've ever tried, we have used it all over my brother's little yacht. It remains flexible after curing, and is easily removable if you ever disassemble the sealed parts. Highly recommended.

Thanks Steve, sounds good.
Three top tips here but, as mentioned, as I’ve already ordered the mastic tape so I’ll see what that’s like first but in any event will report back.
Thanks
Bob
