Hi David
Yes know the Three Rivers - I got my refill Camping Gaz from there. Do you realise it used to be part of Yorkshire a long time ago?
In fact our son is getting married in October (if it can go ahead) at Eaves Hall Hotel, the hotel you drove past on your way up the private road to the site..
That's the first exciting bit when they tell you that it's ready to leave Germany - you start to get the thought of actually being able to sit in it and start to play with things.
As I said we got ours from AL in Poole and Cameron who dealt with us was great and made sure he told us as much as we could hold on to. We left their site and drove straight out onto a dual carriageway, then onto a multi-lane roundabout where we had to get in the outside lane.........I'll never forget the tension we felt never having towed a caravan before, as we tried to go across the traffic and follow the signs to Dorchester.
At least for you when you collect your new pride & joy from ALV you only have one small roundabout and then you are straight on the southbound M6 and on your way home!
Cheers

Hi Mike
Small world. I think Yorkshire felt sorry for Lancashire so handed a bit back but that's maybe not a tale for on here
I remember picking up our first caravan 10 years ago from Catterick - twin axle Conqueror 645, probably in a tow car (Galaxy) that was just on the limit! Soon changed that to an XC90 and stayed with them ever since.
I figured I'd just come back along the A66 rather than M6/A59 as the police are, rightly so, stopping anyone near the Dales who doesn't look like they should be. I think a caravan falls into that category but it'll be a couple of weeks away yet so hopefully some relaxations.
Stay safe

Hi Denise and Phil
We will probably take it to ALV for it's service when due so thanks for your advice. From my experience with Catterick Caravans a few years back I became a bit anal and actually type up a list and hand it over. It's amazing how many people don't recall what you said!
Regards

Hi Denise & Phil
Yes good advice particularly if you are having something ordered from Hymer from Germany for warranty work.
We had a problem with the main door hinge breaking and we needed a replacement done under warranty. I messaged Mike about a month before it was due in for service reminding him of everything that needed doing, with a photo of the part that we needed in the GT silver. It was all ready for us when we dropped off the van and completed by 4.00.
Cheers

Hi Mike
You had a better result than us then 3 visits a to replace 5 locker door fronts, van still under warranty, 240 mile round trip, overnight stay each time, only 1 locker door fixed- the others had somehow disappeared (probably onto another van),
4 months later a parcel arrived without notice, containing 4 new locker fronts, no info no apology no new hinges nada In addition the window seals that were replaced by them under the recall by Hymer were fitted incorrectly and the van leaked like a sieve (which it hadn't done at all before the seals were replaced)
All now fixed by Travelworld in Stafford paid for by Hymer. Shall not be going back to the outfit at Tebay for anything

Hi Denise & Phil
That's horrendous. I can understand you not touching them with a barge pole after that experience.
Got to be honest that the reason that we started using them was purely geographic. We would have used AL in Poole but it take us 6 hours to get there towing the van.We book in at Kendal C & C Club site for a couple of nights & take the van on the back road to Tebay from Kendal on the Monday morning bright & early.. We spend the day out in the Lakes and collect it at teatime. Up to now everything has worked well.
If we had your experience we would go somewhere else too.
