puck tyre size
The tyres on my puck look to be in great condition, however they are 7 years old and so, as much as it pains me, they need to be replaced. The current tyres are 135/80r13, however I have noted on the eriba amiga site that they should be 155/80r13.
Not sure what I should replace them with and does the difference in cross section size matter? I have also noted that my 135/80's appear to have a load rating of 70 and the 155/80's I have looked at have a load rating of 79...... 70 seems a bit low, but there have been no problems with them so far.
Any thoughts welcome
Ralph

Ralph,
I do not know what age your van is but I looked up a 2004 brochure as a guide and it shows this "135R13 70T/155R13 79T"
All I do know for sure is the load rating for the pair should not really be more than 10% over the max axle load. If you exceed this reasonable margin for error then you will loose some of the suspension element that the tyre gives.
The tyresafe website for a 155 80 has max recommended axle load of 787kg with a max permissable axle load of 874kg

Ralph,
I carry a printed copy of the tyresafe document in the Eriba. I've attached it to this reply.

Thank you Mr Underhill.
You see, the problem is when you have too much time to think about doing something, rather than getting out there just doing that something, one ends up over thinking the details!

Take care not to overdo the load index which would require a higher inflation pressure. The tyres are a major part of the suspension system of the caravan and if the tyre pressure is high there is less "give"
I have a rear mounted dash cam in my Triton, and reviewing the video footage shows just how much of a rough ride the caravan gets. No wonder some folks have trouble with doors falling off in transit!

I replaced Esthers tyres last year with the type that was already on the rims. The spare still has the unused original (dot code) from 1997(!) and of course I am about to change that too but it confirmed the size for me as 135/80 R13 70T.

Now I think of it, seems too good to be true but we live in hope...
Will let you know if the tyre arrives ok but for now would not recommend them after all.
