Are Eribacars rare?

Hi everyone
I've only just heard about this Forum, and I'm sure it will be very helpful for me.

I was looking for a small campervan and saw my Eribacar on EBay and liked the look of it. My son drove me to see it, and without knowing much about them or giving it much checking I bought it on the spot. I hardly used it because of a house move and this and that, before the MOT ran out in November 2019. It failed, as expected, and needed some welding underneath so I decided not to have the work done until the weather improved in the Spring. My mechanic, who restores classic vehicles, was just about to collect it and start work when Covid reared its head and everything had to stop!

He's finally got going again and has completed all the welding needed to repair and strengthen the chassis. Not too surprisingly after being laid up for nearly a year, it failed the mot again thanks to brake problems. He's going to tackle those and I'm hopeful I'll be able to use it in September for short breaks with my 3 small dogs.

The interior is in pretty good condition for it's age and mostly original. It came with loads of paperwork, some in French, and I just can't wait to start using it.

There's no power steering and I doubt if I'll be able to drive it myself, so was considering having that installed. Last year I saw references to someone who installs power steering but don't whether they are still operating and how much difference it would make. In the meantime I'll just have to hope I can interest my son in some weekends away. I'm looking for a small awning for him to sleep in.

I've tried to upload a picture but not sure whether it's worked.
I've never seen another Eribacar and would love to see your pictures and hear about your experiences with them.

April

Hi April and welcome to Eribafolk.

The Eribacar is, if anything, gaining in popularity but they are scarce as they went through a fundamental design change in around 2000 which took their appearance well away from the Eriba Touring look.

We do have several members on this forum and on our Eribafolk Facebook page and all Eriba owners are fans of the product.
