Hi all
Promised I would never tow as always slept in VW campers and not keen on the idea full stop . Having bowed to pressure, I’ve succumbed and bought a mid 70s Puck with a hole in the floor but otherwise sound, I think ! Needs a refresh and a few parts and no doubt advice from you folks. Nice to see there’s a great community of like minded people like the VW scene, preferably without the VW style tax though! Love all things retro and will keep it 70s as much as possible but here’s the questions:
From my serial number, how I do determine the exact year to order parts, I know it’s at least 74 because of the rounded door edge.
Best electrical set up, wiring and advice
Is the pop top canvas a mission to replace or can a newbie like me do it. I’m ok ish at DIY, the wife would argue that !
Advice on tow bars and what not to do !
Cheers, looking forward to camping

Hi Lee. Welcome to Eribafolk Looking forward to reading reports on your progress with the Puck. Many Dub owners have to bite the bullet once the family comes along or another change of circumstances and the best option is to keep the Dub and hang a Puck on the back of it.
If I'm reading your plate right, 132052 is a 1976 Puck. The only anomaly is that it has a Thann Factory plate on it and the French factory at Thann moved its production to the nearby, newly built factory at Cernay in 1972.
It's not unusual for Eriba then and now, to confuse customers with their serial number plates so I'd go for 1976.
Brief history:-
1958 to 1968, manufactured in Bad Waldsee, Germany until the factory burnt down.
1968 to 1972, bought a factory in Thann, France to continue production.
1972 to 2010 moved and produced in Cernay France.
2010 discontinued the Puck and moved all production back to Bad Waldsee Germany.

Cheers for the info, guessed at 74 only because gas bottle is on board as opposed to a friends 75 puck that has bottle enclosed on the tow hitch. Assume they moved gas outside as an upgrade?
