Remoska
Is there a low watt alternative? I’ve been searching but no joy. Don’t get me wrong, I love my Remoska but the cost! Our current one is out of guarantee and I suspect is going to fail one day. The inside of the lid has discoloured, faded and the coating is coming off. This happened to our previous one, the fading spread slowly until it was all round the lid and then it packed up. I know you can buy direct from Czech (Bravoska) which is the same thing but a bit cheaper but just wondered if there is any other option that does everything a Remoska will.

A 2nd hand Remoska does everything a new one will at a fraction of the cost. Admittedly they are becoming more difficult to pick up at a bargain price but I did source a very nice example for home use at £25 from Gumtree.

Our Remoska lost one of the vent screws in the lid (probably ended up in a curry) I contacted Lakeland HQ and explained the problem to see if I could get the part. They dont do parts I was informed but I should contact the shop where we had purchased it (Truro). I informed the guy it was about 5 years old but he said call them anyway. Rang Truro Lakeland explained the problem and the date on receipt 2015. The shop assistant said hold on a minute, then came back and said bring it in and we will replace it but it will only now have 3 year warranty! Took it back however they didn't have any in stock, but gave me a new receipt and a replacement arrived 3 days later.
This I believe is number 5
Lakeland were selling reconditioned ones on eBay recently.

I have a Remoska and a Double skillet that uses the gas hob, I am going to be in the minority however I prefer my double skillet which I have had for the last 10 years.

The double skillet looks really useful but one of the things about the Remoska is I’ve already paid for my hook up so I use the electric. The skillet would presumably use the gas hob which Mr Careful with his Money ( otherwise known as Neil) wouldn’t like so much 😁

Sorry Julie I am with Neil - since we got our Remoska about 18 months ago we have not used the gas once. Kettle, toaster & Remoska meet all our cooking needs.
I do all the cooking and we eat very tasty food. This week in Scarborough I made one of Nadia's cheat dishes roast tinned new potatoes & chicken cooked in the oil from a jar of sun dried tomatoes. Next night a beef, chillie & mushroom Piri Piri. Both lubricated with a bottle of shiraz.
If I had cooked these on the gas hob the kitchen area would have looked like a battleground but we use the outside plug to power the Remoska whilst it sits on the little table in the awning.
Got our Remoska direct from factory on internet but forget what we paid for it.

If Neil is as mean as me he could also get an induction job. Over the last 11 nights I’ve used the Remoska for 8 nights (not so easy abroad) and the induction job most nights. Gas only gets used if I have to have two pans on at the same time or for coffee pot.

Further research has found Alza online, they sell genuine Remoska’s at a lower price then Lakeland. Basic black model just under £80 with a 3 year warranty so I’ve bookmarked that for the day when this current Remoska packs up. We use it all the time at home and in the Eriba, curries, roasting veg, frittata, baked potatoes and Neil has recently tried baking bread in it with very good results so I think we’ll continue with a Remoska.
