Pan or Familia - What do we have?

Hi Everyone,
Since we got our 1984 Pan Familia a few weeks ago I've been a little confused about how Ebira differentiate between models.
This has not been helped by the Pro-tec cover site which lists a Pan OR Familia (cost you £20 extra for Familia), but our chassis plate states its a Pan Familia - that's both???

Today I found the 1984 brochure section of this site (great information source) and it shows that back in 1984 a Pan and Familia have the same body size/shape and rating etc, but the interior layout is different, so they are two different vans.

Our van has the layout of the PAN as shown in the brochure, so am I correct in saying we have a 1984 PAN and not a Familia or Pan Familia?

Don't want to get the cover order wrong and the fact they charge £20 more for the Familia suggests its for a larger van, maybe the modern version.

Thanks all

Update.
So now convinced myself that back in 1984 you could order a Pan or a Familia, no van configuration existed called a Pan Familia.
In later years the Pan was dropped and the Familia grew in size and got suffixed with an ID number, IE Familia 320 etc.

My confusion was driven by the fact that Eriba used a universal chassis plate for the common frame used for both, hence it states Pan Familia on the caravan.

Not that important, but I was trying to order a cover for the van and they only list Puck or Familia. They all say yes they can do it if you say it's a Pan Familia, but it's likely they are linking to the modern Familia. They all say no if you say it's a Pan. Time to phone them up.

We've had our "Pan Familia" for a year and I still can't work out which it is. The ID plate says PANFAM I can't find pictures of an interior that match ours, where did you find the 1984 brochure. Ours is supposed to be 1985 there's information anywhere on that year.

Thanks but they are not English and don't match our van. Would I find it on the attached page/photo?

Hi Mike. I think the important info you'll need before ringing up a cover manufacturer is the door position although I'm fairly sure that the door position on an 80s Pan is fixed.
Also bear in mind that you have a projecting gas bottle box on yours so be sure to mention that.

These are the layouts of the Pan and Familia from the 1980s.

Both have the same measurements and weights but the Pan has two long beds and a front kitchen (similar to the modern Familia 320 but without a toilet) whereas the Familia has a double and a single cross bed (similar to the modern Familia 310).

I still wonder if our 91 'PanFam' label actually means it's a hybrid between the Pan and Familia. Maybe that's stating the obvious! Anyway, I say that because It has a kitchen at the front like the Pan and a small floor cupboard on the right like the Familia - looking at Randa's plan views for reference that is. So like Elaine, we have never been able to find a floor plan diagram that matches ours. That's another query of course.

Is this set of floor layouts of any interest?

Dave.

Thanks for the layouts. No matches there. I do believe I have found a very close match :) Pan M 2nd from right. The only fly in the ointment is there is something unknown on the left side of that diagram which kinda looks like a loo!

So another probably stronger possibility is the Pan Duo:

This link to a French blog on the subject might interest some.

Roger. Thanks for the links. I'm leaning more towards the Pan Duo except for the fact the French brochure shows the fridge in the small side cupboard on the right. Our fridge is up front.

Hmm this is all very confusing!

Always thought ours was a Familia, but your pics suggest, like your van, it may be a Pan Duo. The reason I say this is that our kitchen is at the front overlooking the towbar.
As you step inside the van you are faced with the loo door and to the left of that a wardrobe. The fridge is immediately to the left of the door as you enter, that is on the off-side in UK..

Hey ho ....

Pan Duo T. T for toilet I've recently been informed. Otherwise Pan duo except for the fact that in our case the fridge is up front also! I'm also confused believe me.

Colin, yes we have a 1997 Pan Duo T which has a loo.We have to sleep across the van because of the short "settees".Our fridge is on the right next to the door when facing the front of the van.I think our Vin plate says PanFam but I will check.Confusing or what?

I dont think the French manufacturers were particularly good at correctly labelling the blue I'd plate very well is my first conclusion. My second conclusion is that I am now utterly baffled.
