I’ve just picked up an eriba pan and I’ve got a 2002 Volvo S60 2.3 T5, it’s not great on fuel
But tows the eriba an absolute dream! It does around 30mpg at 80 with no caravan And 27 at 60mph towing
It’s got tonnes of torque and you hardly know it’s on! Plus if someone pulls out on you it’s got 250bhp to put them

You are right. Volvos are great towcars. They are economical (if diesel!), quick, stable, comfortable and capable of starship mileages. I'm on my second V70 D5.
The only thing bad about them is they've got a turning circle like the Titanic.
