Just wondered if anyone has recommendations for a compact low wattage heater that isn't going to trip the site electrics or put to much strain on the eriba electrics now winter is round the corner. I would never have a hot caravan but its nice just to take the chill of & save your gas!

We use a 500W oil filled radiator with heat thermostat...cost about £18. Less than 2amps and keeps the van warm. Something like this..

Heres another one, but slightly larger at 650W

Ditto, ditto, ditto - also us.

For when it gets colder we supplement it with a low voltage fan heater with a thermostat. It is a bit noisy but not as bad as some older fan heaters we have had.We did use a halogen heater before this but I kept knocking it over and then the safety switch kicked in

In really exceptional circumstances we will put the gas heater on for a bit. If it is below freezing I sleep with a small beanie on my head to make up for the lack of hair.

The problem is space! when you make the bed up or reverse in a morning in a 320 with a duvet & two Duvalay's. There really isn't much floor space, cant be in front of bathroom door, fridge, kitchen cupboards or blocking door out. I wonder how much it would cost & if it can be done adding electric inside the gas heater to make it duel fuel ? i seem to remember on our old old Abbey caravan having electric as well. i suppose it boils down to cost of that versus using a bit of gas. If only at the point of manufacturing they added it, the cost would have been very little.

Type the following into the forum search box. The thread you want is about 7th down the list. Look at the photos 3rd row down, 2nd in from the left.

The Adax heater I fitted is I think no longer available. It has a solid element and is silent. We have used this as an alternative to the excellent DeLonghi 500 watt oil radiator we used previously.

Yes an electric element can be retro fitted, but I think its quite expensive, ours had it already fitted and it works realy well.

I retro-fitted an electric element years ago and have never regretted it.

Morphy did his more recently and there could well be a thread regarding the procedure that should show up with a search.

The Kampa Dometic Diddy fan heater is excellent. Exactly what's needed to take the chill off cold van. Two settings - 750w or 1500w. 26.6 x 17.8 x 10.4 cm. 1.16 Kilograms. Safety cut out if falls over. £25

We got a small fan heater as we thought it would give a quicker warm up when needed.

Or...a Quest slimline quartz heater. We have one and it can be set to 400w or 800w. Has knock over shut off protection and belts out the heat fast. Very pleasant temp at 400w. It's also small. Here's a link:
