New member here, but ive been lurking in the shadows for a long time
I'm quite active on the Facebook page so thought I better show my face on here. Im currently restoring a 81 puck and ill start a thread on here to document my progress
So a little back story...
We bought the puck back in 2013. I was trawling ebay (drunk) and stubled across a good looking cheap (ish) puck and I put a bid on without even seeing it. Woke up the next morning, and what do you know i was the winning bidder. I was the only bidder which should have set alarm bells ringing, but I was excited (and hungover)
Went to pick it up the next day and the weather was horrendous, the rain was bounching off the ground. Looked pretty good on the outside, interior was good apart from a couple of holes where a previous owner had fitted a car stereo
And some speakers. The internal electrics worked and I was assured the fridge was working. Due to the weather I didn't pop the top but that turned out to be in good working order and couldn't properly look underneath as there was now a river flowing underneath. I did have a quick look and the main frame and floor did look OK so cash was handed over, the van was ours
Got it home, did some basic checks - wheel bearings, brake adjustment, grease, new tyres etc. Looked underneath, the floor was ok (nothing obvious) the box section around the outside had been heavily sealed but poked with a screwdriver and was solid so off we went for a couple of family holidays. Then a house move and a new baby and various other vehicle projects came along and the puck got pushed into a corner, left to the elements.
Back in 2018 I decided to investigate the thick black mastic/sealant covering the whole of the outer box section frame underneath 2 weeks before we were booked to go away and my worst fears were realised
Anyway I'll save all the gory details for the refurb thread
Heres a pic of the van from the good old days

Welcome Mart and best of luck with the rust. I'm sure you've used the forum search facility and come across some guidelines. Cut out and renewal of the outside bottom frame is not for the feint hearted. I seem to recall one or two lucky owners managed to source really good workshops so hopefully they will come along soon and steer you in the correct direction.

Hi Colin
Rust is all repaired now, complete lower outer box section frame was replaced. Certainly not for the faint hearted.
Wheres best to start a thread to document the restoration?
Thanks
Mart

'morning Mart and welcome to Eribafolk.
Looking forward to an interesting number of posts about the rebuild. You've obviously got the hang of how to post pictures so as Colin suggests, perhaps the Repairs, Maintenance and Activities would be a good place to start. Use a catchy title that folk can remember and of course you can go back to and add any new information regarding the rebuild.
Although you've stated that your rebuild is now done and dusted perhaps you (and other new members) would like to see another Eriba buff who went through a similar experience. .

Here's another thread from way back when Mark Fitzgerald and family joined us. He needed a lot of persuasion not to scrap the Triton but he went ahead and he and family are still out there using it when work commitments allow..Eriba Triton needing a lot of welding
