Best size Duvalay size for 540 Troll

I’m thinking of investing in 2 Duvalay sleeping bags for my Eriba. What is the best size (width) sleeping bag for a 2006 Troll 540gt?

My ‘van lives on a storage yard so I can’t pop out and measure the seats. I’m thinking it might be useful to have the widest size which will fit on the bench seats when they are used as 2 singles and then I can then put them together as a double when my wife is with me.

My 540 doesn’t have the extra infill cushions to widen the single beds so I need to know the width of the base cushion from the wall to the edge of the seat. Does anyone know what this is or would someone whose ‘van lives at home be kind enough to measure this for me?

Thanks in advance.

The seat cushions are 24ins wide as they are and the single bed if you use split back cushion turns into 30ins wide

Duvalays arrived and they are very cosy. Unfortunately they are about twice the size I was expecting so storage is going to require some creative thinking.

Hello there. Appreciate this is an old post, but our 540 has just arrived and we're thinking of investing in Duvalay sleeping bags too. So was interested to know where you were storing them during the day as they seem too big for the lockers under the seats with a diameter of around 40cm. We're minded to just get the topper and get separate single duvets to see if we can pack all our bedding under the seats. Thanks!

We recently bought the "standard" width 25mm toppers with zip on sheets for our 430GT and they fit that layout perfectly - we sleep across the caravan. They are excellent and have made such a difference to comfort - we are just back from 3 weeks away with no problems at all. When the awning's up we leave the bed made up, but when converting to dinette layout we roll them, tie them with the supplied ties and put them in the bags they came in, storing them in the car for the day (or in the roof box if it's on the car). Hope that helps,
Simon

Thanks Simon. That's really helpful, especially on the storage ideas. Hope you had a lovely 3 weeks away. We have our first trips in our 540 GT planned for September and October. Visitng some sites here in Scotland and can't wait.

We've had Duvalays since 2007, when they were just one size and thickness. I've never measured their rolled up diameter. We've had two 540's and never put the Duvalays under the benches but used to stack them upright in the rear corner of the lounge. We never tried to put them under the benches because there was so much stuff under there already. Quite what it all was I can't remember.
We currently run Swift Sprite Compact, which is as long as a Familia but has 6ft long benches plus oven, microwave, solar panel, washroom etc. We store the Duvalays under the benches along with our pillows. At night we put some of the upholstery and the scatter cushions under the benches when the pillows and Duvalas come out.

Just measured ours - the Compact Travel Topper (25mm thick) - they are 11" or 27cm in diameter when rolled and in their bags. And 26" or 66cm long. They could store during the day across the width of the caravan under the table at the back of the 'van, but we choose to stick them in the car with the duvet and pillows.

Mine are very bulky but we love sleeping in them so we live with the size. They go in the car during the day.

I've just measured ours rolled up and they have a diameter of about 25cm when secured with nylon type bindings. The rest is wider but easily compresses down when stored. Obviously the thicker the underlay the bigger the resultant bed roll. As said there was only one thickness available when we bought ours and it's about an inch thick. Check out Andrew Ditton's YouTube video on them.

I think the original question was about the whole Duvulay sleeping bag with the compartments for duvet and foam mattress which, when rolled up are pretty bulky. Some of the other responses are just about the 'toppers'. When they are rolled up they are, of course, a lot smaller in diameter. We have the Duvulay sleeping bags in the compact size, which are slightly narrower than the width of the seat cushions. At night we tuck the back cushion down and use it as a handy ledge. During the day we leave the Duvulays flat on the single beds in the 540 and cover them neatly with a rug. If we need to roll them up we store them at the window end of the long seats, on either side of the small cupboard. They are great to sleep in but there is an awful of sheet and duvet overhang! (And I hate changing those sheets especially when inside the van!).

We used to leave them on top of the benches during the day. The extra inch or so of height was fine for Mrs SDA at 5ft 2ins tall, but it meant my head just grazed the bottom of the roof lockers, me being 6ft 1ins.
