About to start out on Eriba adventures with a Triton 420 that’s as old as our eldest daughter born in 2000. Hurray!!! Any advice on which awning to buy- preferably with option of adding an extra bed room welcome! Looking forward to camping with a little bit of luxury! (Ie a bed and a toilet!!). It’s a bit of a 25th anniversary treat to ourselves and a very unexpected Christmas surprise!

Welcome to the forum and the minefield of awnings and a hundred different opinions.
With your requirement for extra bedroom you have narrowed your choice considerably. You are probably going to be looking for an older traditional shaped awning, and the one that was most frequently bought with the extension was probably Soplair.
New awnings are available that meet your needs but you would have to check on the height as after 2010 the awning rail height changed. This is critical.
One exception is the inflatable Kampa Pop-Air Pro 340 which can be bought with an extension room, but you are north of £1,000.
You do not say why you need the extension. Is it for children? If you could use a small pup tent this would open up your possibilities and make your search both easier and a lot cheaper. Our boys at 8 and 10 went the pup tent route and loved it. We were very happy as well.

Hi to you and welcome to the site. I'm certain that you will have lots of fun in your Triton.
Another option to the ones that Colin suggests if you are only needing somewhere for someone to sleep occasionally is to get an awning with a small inner tent that fits inside the original awning. We were thinking of one of these for when our grandchildren get older, I think SunnCamp do one for their awnings or you could use a generic one or even a small pop-up tent inside the awning.
Just a thought

Welcome to the world of Eriba. We have a Triton 420GT which has the higher awning rail. we use a Walker awning but also have a inner room that could be used in any awnings. it is suspended from above on tie straps pegged out at the bottom as a tent would be, it sleeps 2 people on airbeds with zipper door. packs away very small and takes minutes to put up. these are available at most caravan equipment stores.

Welcome to Eribaland
We've used a Khyam motordome quick erect awning since 2007 (it's looking a bit sad now but it's still weatherproof. When it finally gives up on us we're going to get a Khyam Dub Hub quick erect awning.
The Khyam Dub Hub can have a 2 bed bedroom sleeping area suspended inside or for extra room a Zip on 2\4 bed annexe can be added. We love the Khyam because it's quick to erect and pack away, not too heavy and if a wet pack is forced on you, because it can be free standing, it can easily be erected at home to dry thoroughly in the garden (about 15 mins from totally soggy to dry on a sunny day)
We've had a traditional steel pole awning (excellent for long stays but heavy, tedious to erect and dismantle and a nightmare to dry if a wet pack is necessary)
A Kampa pop air pro (very heavy to thread through the awning rail not much difference in time in getting it pegged out but really quick to pack away) but I realy didn't like the window and curtain arrangements it was far too hot on a sunny day to be useful, the Khyam with it's many ventilation and shading options we found to be more versatile.
An Isabella sun canopy - utterly brilliant for quick overnights or weekends - light ,easy to manage and stylish
A Sheltapod - designed for VW campers but really quite funky, will easily sleep two or just use as an extra room, or sun canopy or storage. Easy to erect (after the first couple of goes) Not heavy to handle, packs down into a reasonable size and again can be erected as a freestanding tent for drying at home if necessary.
There are lots and lots of options have a look through the photos in the gallery and try to see as many different ones as you can in the flesh. Don't be in hurry, get a sunshade and windbreak as an inexpensive starter and a little 3 man pup tent as extra sleeping accommodation until you make the investment in a perfect for you awning.
Have fun - that's what Eriba-ing is all about - Good Luck
Denise & Phil
