towing advice for a novice

Hello all. We have recently purchased a 2001 Troll 530.
Well I say recently, it was actually back in the summer but we have had no chance to use her yet. I am trying to confirm my understanding of towing weights.
When buying the caravan from a dealer in Poole we discussed towing it with our mini clubman and were told that would be fine. The 530 has a Gross weight of 1000kg and a Net weight of 830kg. Our mini clubman (2007 1.6 cooper) has a kerb weight of 1145kg.
As I understand it it is legal to tow up to 100% of the Kerb weight of your car, but recommended to be 85%. Assuming it is fully Laden our Eriba would be 87% of the kerb weight of Mini. Is this going to be ok?
Many thanks for any advice!

On those weights you should be OK. If you look here then you can get a better idea. Type in the best match for your Troll and adjust the weights accordingly. Allow 300kg in the car. https://towcar.info/

The kerb weight of the car doesn't really make any difference if you're attempting to tow more than the car is designed to.
This is far from definitive (and the last thing I'd want to do is give you a bum steer based on a quick look on the Internet), but from what I've seen here the braked towing limit of a 2007 Clubman Cooper is 750kg.

Hmm - that is concerning then, there is nothing in the handbook to indicate what the manufacturer thinks the towing limit it, but 750KG would clearly make this very much a no go... I wonder if i can contact Mini/BMW themselves somehow to confirm??

The towing limit will be on the VIN plate/Sticker that is usually stuck on the drivers door pillar, but can be under the bonnet somewhere.
There will be several weights there , here's an explanation
https://www.towbarexpress.co.uk/maximum-towing-weight/
It is the VIN plate that determines the legality - nothing else !
