Yum!

Islay, have you ever come across a cheese named 'Vignotte'? I love it but it seems to have disappeared from every cheese counter I have enquired of over the past few years. I think it comes from the Champagne district. Apart from that, my other top favourite is Pave d'Affinois.. That requires a double Yum...

Try Stamford Cheeses they have it in stock and will post out. Vignotte is a type of Brie made in Normandy with triple fat milk. Not sure if Brexit teething troubles is causing any delivery delays?

Thanks Bathchap. Where I've been having trouble in sourcing it is in France. I used to be able to buy it in Auchan or wherever, I haven't been able to find it (in France) for a number of years now.. Shame...

OK got the bit between my teeth now! When you are looking for Vignotte cheese in France, Match Supermarkets (NE France and part of the Belgian Delhaize chain) stock your missed fromage.

According to one website inbound, it's been a victim of it's own success. Locals are obviously gobbling up the lot 😋😋😋

Coo - Philippe Olivier, I haven't been to his place for years. I remember all the cheese was artfully displayed on small mats of straw and the shop illumintated by candles. Most of the cheese I had never heard of!

Now, I'm just as happy at the cheese counter of a decent supermarket, there is always more than enough choice for my needs - except for the bloomin' Vignotte! However, I don;t think I know the 'Match' chain, so that's one to look out for - thanks for the tip, Bathchap...

Ah France, one day.

But in the meantime here in Suffolk we have Baron Bigod Brie from the farm, which is more than most french brie can say. Its even made with unpasteurised milk from Montbeliarde cows. Absolutely delicious and highly recommended if you can find it.
