Water intake tubes

Good afternoon
After coming back from storage, the 2 small bore transparent tubes near the water pump/container under the sink are very black. They were renewed last year so it’s this winters ‘growth’. The water container was emptied at the end of the season.
I’ve renewed both tubes again now so all good but how best to avoid this happening again next year?
Advice appreciated
Bob

There's a solution to really clean the water system that you flush through, let it sit, then rinse it out. I can't remember the name of it, but someone here will know!

I start the season by running sterilizing solution through the system. I use baby bottle tablets, others use Miltons, no reason why you could not use a weak bleach solution. If you did this at the end of the year it could have the effect you are after.

bacteria in water forms a slime to protect itself which makes it difficult to remove even with bleach, this stuff breaks down the slime and removes the lot, we use it at the end of the season and the start.

Just to add, I was told by a service engineer never to use Milton in a hot water system as it causes corrosion when it comes into contact with steel.

I thought about that a while ago. I know my tubes [oh missus, sounds painful] are plastic as is my tank. My tap bodies will be brass with chrome plating. I would hope my Truma water heater is stainless steel, so I should be OK. If not then I'll change my ways.

Many thanks for the advice, I’ll make sure that I start using Puriclean at the end of the season too....

Hi Bobb

I also use Puriclean when I store our Troll for winter and then use it again at the start of the season and it works a treat.

You boys are so extravagant, but you've talked me into it, £7.98 and it should last me about 5 or 6 years. Werbung: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Puriclean-400...er/162983955421

Update.
At start of the season I roll a cloth up, soak in a dilute bleach solution and push it into the outside fill tube that feeds my onboard tank. This is clear and gets the same black build up in it. After 24hrs I've pulled this out but not that impressed so thought I'd take the tube out and do the job properly. After undoing the jubilee clips it became apparent this is not possible. The tube is short and stiff, the outside filler obviously fixed and so is the tank as it's glued to the floor and the waste outlet through the bottom means I'm not going to move it. I've rotated the tube 180 degrees, showing even more gunk, and now repeating the soaked rag. Next step will be to try and fit a bung in the entrance to the tank and fill the tube with bleach water.
