Getting the fridge out of a troll 530

The fridge no longer works on gas because the ignition system seems to have failed. I have changed the AA cell with no success. Has anyone any hints as to how to get the fridge out. I have found the four screws, two each side, but presumably the gas pipe needs to be disconnected before trying to pull it out, but how?

Hi Isla and welcome to Eribafolk
Removing the fridge is not a task for the faint-hearted. I watched our local caravan mobile service engineer remove ours just enough to fit a new element and although I'm fairly good at DIY I would never tackle the job.
It comes out inside the van but first all the small facia panel screws across the front of the cooker and fridge have to be removed and there are many. It also involved a lot of pushing and pulling before he was able to "walk" it out enough to get at the back.
Putting it back was just as difficult.

Which make and model fridge do you have?
If it's a Dometic, the gas connection is usually on the top just behind the gas control knob so the fridge has to be withdrawn four inches or so to gain access.
The ignitor module may be fitted on the top or at the rear. If it's at the rear then checks could be made without removing the fridge.
If you do end up disturbing the gas connection then a gas tightness safety test must be carried out after the fridge is reinstalled.

It is a Dometic, who i gather bought the Electrolux absorption cycle fridge business. It is a 2015 'van. I hadn't thought of looking in the vents, that is certainly a good idea. Easy to do and nothing ventured nothing gained. I might be able to see enough to find the position of the gas pipe.

Not happened since we've had an Eriba but we had the same fridge in our Pennine folding camper and twice the ignition system failed due to insects nesting in the burner/valve unit. Easy to clean out through the lower air vent from outside. A good clean with a small paintbrush and a good blow through and it came back to life each time.

Had time to investigate today. I got the two outside vents off and could see the ignition unit, and the gas burner through the bottom one. To cut a long story short it was a bad contact at the battery holder cum switch, so now all working. Thanks for the tip about working from the outside through the vent. A certain Eriba dealer on the south coast was talking of taking the fridge out to do this; I dread to think what they would have charged (though whether or not they would actually have taken the fridge out is unknown).

Also worth noting that before you can get the worktop above the fridge (ours is a Triton 420), you need to remove four (or maybe five) screws which attach an aluminium sealing plate to the underside of the worktop. They are accessed from the outside via the vent grill hole. These come out easy enough but are a devil to put back in. I used a torch, and mirror to be able to see where they should go and bluetack to stick the screw to the screwdriver.
This was to fit a 2nd electric socket to the fridge side panel rather than removing the fridge. I guess that all models have a similiar arrangement.
