I know of someone who bought several Eribas over the years and says that the new one he bought in I think 2018 is the best built he has ever bought. Don't worry or be put off they are that badly built every time one goes on sale it is bought straight away. I am really looking forward to the Troll arriving where did you buy yours from? and when does it arrive? Morphy (Bev & Steve)

We also picked up our new 540 GT last July and pleased to say no issues. The dealer put plastic retainer straps on all cupboard doors as part of the deal which prevents straining them. Just prepping ours for the first of many trips we hope.

That's great to hear re quality. If anyone thinks differently I don't want to know! Thanks for the posts, they are encouraging.
I'm not only new to Eribas but also forums/social media. I've been getting emails telling me I've got new replies, eventually finding there's a second page! 🙄 Doh! We're getting Monica from Adventure Leisure in Penrith and have been told she should arrive from the Fatherland around the end of May for pick up mid June as there are a couple of things to fit. Morphy, Where's yours coming from?

Hi Nanook and welcome to the 540 GT gang. We got ours in 2016 and love it to bits. Fortunately we have enough space to park ours on the drive and if I can't locate Kath it is a good bet that she has taken a brew to sit in the van and imagine she is on a site somewhere.............

We have only dropped our top for sleeping twice. Both were in the middle of the night right on the coast when very strong winds came in with the tide and we were unfortunately side on to the wind and the van started to rock fairly vigorously as the gusts hit the side of the pop top. It wasn't that we felt it would tip over but reminded us a bit of crossing the Bay of Biscay in a big ferry. We also dropped it once in winter when we had a really heavy frost, but that was to keep my ears warm as I don't like sleeping with a heater on............!

Thankfully in our years of ownership we don't seem to have had quality issues. Bits & pieces of things have happened as you would expect but these have all been resolved under warranty at ALV at Tebay. We didn't buy our Troll from them but use them for servicing. Our biggest issue was with the hot water boiler but ALV worked out what it was quickly - Hymer hadn't fitted a non-return valve at the factory so the hot water was drawn back into the water main
tank. Worth checked when you collect yours, if it has the boiler.

Our worst problem was in 2020 when the Ribble Valley had a sudden late but severe frost. We had already de-wintered the van and it was sitting on the drive uncovered. In playing around with it I must have let some water get back into the taps and this heavy frost split both tap cartridges. A very expensive visit to ALV followed for replacement. A painful lesson learned ...................this winter I used the balloon trick to make sure every last drop was out, then wrapped the taps as you would sending your youngest child to infant school on a cold Lancashire morning.

Enjoy your Troll when it comes and if you have anything that is perplexing you about your Eriba someone on here will have an answer - just ask.

MikeT

Hi Morphy.
We're in the same mind set as you, she arrives when she does. There are lots of things to overcome ; covid, French fishermen, Brexit, French farmers etc. We'll be going straight out on a shakedown and hopefully get anything sorted whilst in the Cumbria area before the 3 hr journey home.
We live in Lincolnshire but I grew up in Colne with the lovely hills and valleys. We live in a valley here with the Lincolnshire Wolds on one side and Germany on the other!
