What are these for ?

So I found myself lying under our Eriba yesterday, as you do, and I noticed 2 x plastic thingies' fixed to the front underside. One LHS, one RHS.
Obviously the previous owner went to the bother of fixing them but what are they for ?

Wheel chock holders. The previous owner may still have them. Factory fitted I believe.

The vast majoirty of owners are totally unaware of the existence of them. I have also yet to meet anybody who has used them.

If you’re jacking up a wheel to change a tyre or level the caravan using a swinging frame leveller then you should chock the other wheel both sides to stop the caravan moving. That is unless you have a motor mover engaged (which you wouldn’t if changing the wheel) which then acts as a brake. To be safe the chocks should still be used even then.

I use mine when parked on slope and over winter to save the parking brake.

I've done lots of things you don't know about, and I'm quite happy to keep it that way

We viewed our new 540GT very shortly after it arrived in the UK last year. There was a big box of bits and bobs in the van and I noticed those chocks and brackets but didn't know where they would end up. If I had known they were going to drill several holes in the underside of the van and been shown how difficult they would be to detach and re attach I would have definitely said don't bother. If you can just take the chocks as they are, unfitted, go for it.

Mike,
there is always an exception to the rule and you are a very nice exception.

They count in the Eriba D'Elegance stakes and should be blancoed on a weekly basis along with polishing the Thetford trap door blade with Kiwi Finest Shine Black.

That brings back memories of the aroma of blanco (or at least Fleet).
