Mr Calder wins the coconut!
Charlie was so, so close as the church depicted in the school badge is St Martins, Ruislip, with the three seaxes of Middlesex, though I'm not sure what the crown was meant to represent. The school was Manor County Secondary School, known locally as Manor School. Presumably named after the part of Ruislip known as Ruislip Manor, which has a station on the Metropolitan Line to Uxbridge.
I entered the school in 1959 and found a secondary modern where the head mistress was intent on showing that such a school could produce O and A Level results, which at the time were considered the preserve of Grammar Schools. Manor had also developed a specialism in art and it was because of that that Ronnie was sent there, the year before I joined. His family lived in West Drayton, which was a tortuous bus journey from Ruislip but the draw of the art course was strong enough to warrant that daily journey for five years.
At that point Ronnie left Manor and moved to Ealing Art College and from there ....
I still remember singing in the school choir with him and he and a friend practising guitar licks in the school hall after hours and the sound echoing around the empty corridors.
My last memory of him was outside the sweet shop in Ruislip, opposite the bus terminus, as he chatted with us with our bikes on a darkening evening after school.
One sad memory, is that his girlfriend at school was in our class, she was absolutely gorgeous and sadly died along with her best friend in a car accident on the way to see Ronnie play in Henley. As a class we were totally and utterly devastated and Ron must have been too.

As I left in 1965 the upper school moved to a new site half a mile away and was renamed Bishop Ramsey Comprehensive. Some time later the lower school moved to the same site and the old site sold for housing.
Not long after, the newish school was found to be suffering from structural defects and was totally rebuilt.
