Troll 530 2001

A pal of mine who bought a Triton last year has just fitted a new touring cover from Protec and it looks and works very well with a zip up the middle and a good soft backing that will protec the paintwork! I have tried to purchase one of these before but they don't make them to fit pre 2010 Trolls. Am I right in thinking that
the awning rail is higher on my 2001 Troll than a 2010 model? My plan is to purchase one and adapt it to fit.Perhaps someone out there with a 2010 or later Troll could advise the measurement from awning rail to the deck on the towbar.

Thanks ,

Mike.

Case of tape is 75mm so awning rail to deck is 1645mm

Surely it's the other way round.

The post 2010 redesign raised the awning rail and the door opening with it. The fixed roof profile and the pop top were flattened a bit.

For a towing cover designed for a post 2010 van I suspect the mid rail handles will be in the same place and the lower half should be identical, but the upper fixing will be too high to secure the top half without some sort of bulging.

PS just thought of another issue 2010 and onwards all Troll's were 2.1m wide and 2001 Trolls were all 2.0m wide. How that variance plays in your intended mods is hard to say.,

I had nothing to do on this hot afternoon

If you are after a fitted cover you could also try specialised covers. I have had mine for 9 winters.

When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!

Hi Tony,

Thanks for the measurement, will check this against mine and see what the difference is.Nice to hear from you hope you and F are keeping well.
Andy, I hope to adapt what I purchase by either losing or adding some fabric into the design.
Potop, I bought a complete cover in 2014 from AL and when they offered new ones for £75 I got another one, mine had worn where the chimney sticks up
and anyway was a very poor fit compared to the new one.
