I live in East London with no suitable space to put a van and to be frank storage options locally are in short supply...we have a 1999 puck that just fits in a small rented garage but, unless you are lucky as we were, this is not a cheap option and it can be difficult to find a garage with enough door height clearance.

Some years ago we had an old wwb and used a storage site near Cranham, but that was a bit of a schlep up the A127. I believe that the Lea Valley campsite did winter storage, but not all year round. Also, I understand that the Theobalds Park Club campsite, Waltham Cross do storage...but I am not sure if this is all year round.

Hope you have many happy times in your Faun and best of luck finding storage.

Ralph

Hi Ralph

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, storage units and garages are in short supply and VERY expensive. I'll try Lea Valley and the other options you mentioned. I'm also trying to get my head around the rules on number plates.
I wanted to order a nice classic black and white one but apparently it's a no no!

The number plate has to be the style of vehicle towing it (in our case 2019 VW) ... why?

The number plate on the rear of a caravan has to be the same registration and type as that on the towing vehicle. Reflective yellow rear plates became legal in the UK in 1973.

As SDA said, the number plate has to be the same type as the car irrelevant of the age of the caravan, which I agree is a shame particularly for your nice vintage Faun.

Re Storage, Hertford C&CC have all year storage. It’s a bit further out than Lea Valley but might be worth looking at.

Hi Lucy, and congratulations on the purchase of your Faun, fun times ahead! You have probably thought of this but there are people out there with empty garages/driveways and it's just a case of finding them. At our last home in Surrey we had an excess of space and successfully rented out a large single garage and a large ground floor room for storage. In the garage it was mostly classic cars and for a couple of years a local florist to store all their Wedding vases etc. In all we did this for around ten years. We just put a small advert in our local shop window but know there are organisations out there who specialise in this. From memory Store at my place, I think or store on my driveway, something like that. You could try a wanted ad like this with a photo of the Eriba, or perhaps a local leaflet drop, targeting preferred roads/ areas. Good luck.
