External drinks (wine/cup of tea) table

I did see a post some days / week or so ago when someone had created an external table using the normal external metal table support strip & just wide enough to put your cuppa on. I was thinking of making one myself and wondered if with just the matching metal strip & 3 or inches of wood would be sufficient or use extra support!
I will need to ring our eriba dealership for a piece of the metal strip

I think you'll find that the idea didn't work because the fitting didn't hold the shelf tight enough and it flopped downwards at a quite alarming angle. I believe the 'inventor was going to look for a way to support the front edge.

Surely all it would need is a small triangular buttress underneath the shelf to stop the shelf from pivoting past the horizontal.

It does work, just needs a buttress folded out against the van wall.

Tell you what, it would be a great place for a central chest!

Phil made one for us, from memory we didn't have the "correct" aluminium edging but he being of technical mind used a piece of right angled strip with a couple of washers as spacers and he re-purposed one of the under bed plastic brackets as a support. Due to the slope of the van walls it required part of a wine cork affixed to the extended end to make it sit level. I'll dig it out of the van next time I'm in and try to get a photo uploaded.

It's another of his what he calls "elegant solutions" to minor shortcomings with our Eriba, The latest one is the very strong but small magnets he's fixed to the drop down extra worktop thing that collapsed every time you breathed on it. He's quite ingenious
