Hi all,
We are awaiting the arrival of our 2022 Troll 530 in January, I know it's a bit early to get excited but thought we'd sign up to access the useful pictures and attachments, as well as introduce ourselves.
We're previous T4 owners, now branching out into caravanning, Eriba seemed like the only option for us, the campervan vibe with a few more creature comforts, and a load of character to boot!
We're a family of 4, still in our thirties (just) with two toddlers, hoping to start a long and happy adventure with the , currently unnamed, van we are yet to meet.
I've got lots of questions about spec and accessories, I'll do some searching and might start a topic or two for some thoughts. Our spec is still open to changes for a few weeks yet.
Cheers,
FB

Welcome FatBadger family. It is never to early to get excited, so start making your lists. We would be interested to know your specification as between us we'll have ordered most of them.
- An onboard tank and hot water tend to be the most contentious issue. Those who have it love it, those who do not cannot understand what all the fuss is about. One thing is for certain, if you think you might want it then spec it now as to fit afterwards is expensive. You do not need the pull out shower head as very few manage to shower in the van.
- Awnings would be second on the list for a good "discussion". But again I think we would all agree that it best to do nothing until you have tried the van. It is all down to how you plan to camp, long stays or short, warm weather or all weathers.
- Only you will know what is best as regards fixed bed or not. What I will say is that a fixed bed does offer a nice higher bed and more storage. With a 530 you could go this route as the front diner is large enough for four.
- Seldom thought about, as not many know the option is the taller comfort upholstery to the front. It is very good.
- Get a mover fitted, but NOT factory order.
- When I look back to our factory order I realise that if I'd have gone for a Troll as opposed to our Triton then the optional electric heating element and blown air system would have been up for consideration. Most of us make do with a 500w oil filled radiator, but with more bodies in the van you have less floor space to fit stand one.
- And the curve ball, the toddlers when they hit 8/10 will not want to be in the van. Pup tents will be the way to go. Ours loved the freedom it offered to them at the edge of the pitch in their own little world.

Hi & welcome FB
Not trying to be rude but if your moniker is any way related to your girth you would really struggle trying to shower in the Troll bathroom. so speaks a man whose body is a temple but cannot shower in his Troll..........................
Colin has made lots of good suggestions. If you are going to use the heater make sure that you spec the tubing that goes from the heater to the heater vents. Astonishingly this an extra. We weren't on the Forum when we ordered our Troll in 2016 and didn't know but we found out on a frosty night in York when noggin here opened the vents to let warm air out to find that there was none to be had...................!
Colin is also right in not rushing into getting an awning or canopy until you know exactly what you need. With two youngsters you might want to look for one that you can add a zip-in tent to the awning, so you can make good use of all your space. Some also have tents that can hang inside the awning.
We once also met someone who was very handy with wood and had turned the dining end of their 530 into a space for a bunk bed for their young daughters and they ate all their meals in their awning. I was well-impressed when he showed me and apparently it was all reversible so he could change it back into a table area .if he was going to sell the van.
Anyway enjoy your excitement and it will build in intensity as the delivery date nears.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I'll post a topic in the main forum over the next couple of days detailing our spec and a couple of bits we're still on the fence about...
Mike, no offence taken, lockdown has taken it's toll in a number of ways, not least on the waist band!

Hi FB, and welcome! We have owned our 540 for a year now and are loving it. Pleased to report no issues. As ever, Colin has given great advice re options but for us the pull out shower hose is essential as we shower outside the van, pulling the hose thru' the washroom window. We know folk will be saying what in the cold and rain but we are fair weather campers. The standard length of hose is one metre but we fitted a one point five metre hose which makes life easier. We also appreciate that folk are thinking about privacy but we are discreet and no complaints from anyone so far behind our custom made higher than average windbreak if we feel it necessary. We normally stay on THS's and after a day on the beach covered in salt and sand a shower standing in a tub trug is perfect. We could have gone for an external stand alone shower set up but it's another bit of kit and we have a dual fuell water heater so hey!

Hi Chasnick, that's exactly why we've ordered the shower, we were told a very similar story, and what with sandy toddlers running around, the cleaner they are at the door, the more likely they'll be allowed in!
One of the fixtures we are unsure on is the duel fuel water heater. At the moment we've gone for the 5L electric, it sounds like the 10L gas and electric might be the way to go.
I think we're just a little bit concerned that for the sake of a few quid now, we end up missing something in a few years that we wish we'd asked for.

Hi again FB
We got the dual fuel one in case we ended up off-grid somewhere and needed to use the gas. To be honest we haven't done that yet and always use the electric on the boiler as it heats the water up very quickly.
we were one of those who weren't sure if we needed the boiler at all and didn't use it at first. However now we use it on every trip as we now tend to wash up in the sink rather than going to the washing-up area on sites - a pandemic thing at first that we will possible continue with.
Cheers
