We would like to fit the Eriba specified tilting bike carrier to our 2018 540. However it's proving to be harder than I first thought. After contacting four Eriba dealers either a delivery and fitting date in October is quoted, the supplier is retiring and can't source the part or a delivery to myself is not permitted. So a couple of questions if I may call on your experience and thoughts.

1. Has anyone experience of fitting this bike carrier themselves? ( it's not A frame but a T bar type)
2. Has anyone got one they would like to sell us?
3. Has anyone used a non Eriba sanctioned fitter to fit theirs?

I have ruled out the tow bar (I believe its sold by Dom Fox) on the draw bar fitting option this stage and wanted to (through my own pigheadedness) fit the OEM part.

Knowepark sourced the Thule rack from Hymer and fitted it in two hours. Delighted with the result which means the bikes will not be travelling in the back of the car from now on.

Now it's time to replace those pesky down-lighters that turn themselves on at all hours, polish the tarnished cupboard hinges, source a sun canopy and plan a winter test run to Aberdeenshire

It's a bit too late now as you have it fitted, but I fitted one to my triton last year.

For anyone thinking of fitting one in the future,
I would suggest first to have a good look under your drawbar and lay the fittings on the floor under, you should then be able to figure out how it's intended to fit into place, also place the Bike carrier in position, just to see how it will match up.

( I sourced my Bike carrier on Marktplaats NL, second-hand, brand new, without fitting instructions.)

I also would like to add that these carriers are designed for high model vans only

Jack, I used a hydraulic car jack
Electric drill
Hammer ( Used to gently tap items into position)
