One more question…!

We are looking at a familia 310 but I am now wondering about the size and orientation of the double bed.

I am nearly 6’2” and think the bed is sideways as opposed to lengthways which would allow my feet to hang off the end!

Am I right with these conclusions? And if so, which model would be similar size to the familia, 3 berth with no toilet.

Thank you!

Sorry to disappoint you Patch but the Famila range only has two models now, the 310, 3 berth no washroom and the 320, 2 berth with washroom. There are earlier Pans and Familias but the beds are all the same orientation. Also your feet won't be able to hang over the end as the beds are side wall to side wall, ie the compete width of the van.

The nearest you'll get is 500mm longer and is the Triton 410 but they are as rare as hens teeth.

P1390377-1w.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)We have a 310, and leave the bed made up. We sleep along the length of the ‘van, using the cushion from the front of the van supported on a box. On the basis of our legs taking up less space than our bodies, there is enough leg-room in the space between the fridge and the wardrobe. This arrangement gives a 6 ft wide bed - and also eliminates the night-time climbing-over dilemma. The photo might explain this better than words.

2003 Eriba Familia 310 for £8,995.00 at Rock Caravans on the A5 between Nuneaton and Atherstone in Warwickshire.

To be clear I have no afiilitaion to these dealers and have no idea of their reputation or the quality of the van

Sleeping across a Familia and a Triton the bed is just about 6ft 2ins and always has been

Most Trolls up to 2010 were the same width, but in that year they were widened by 4ins to 6ft 6ins. There were a few wider Trolls before that, mostly in the 55X range of numbered layouts.

The 'langslaaper' vans with long rear lounge benches which can be 6ft 5ins single beds or a similar length double are the following models:

Triton 410 - no washroom, with front dinette/3rd berth
Triton 420 - with washroom but no front dinette/3rd berth
Troll 540 - with washroom and front dinette/3rd berth
Troll 542 - with washroom, front dinette/3rd berth, rear double bed is fixed

Of these the first three have been available for decades, the 542 only in the last few years.
