Fitting the Plastic Rain Deflector on a Walker Awning

Can anyone offer advice on fitting the optional rain deflector for a Walker awning? I have seen a picture on the Walker web site that shows it clipped to the awning rail and the wide trim strip on the awning being clipped under it but I can't see how it will stop the water running down the channel in the awning rail and finding its way in unless the rail is blocked in some way to stop water flowing along it.

Any advice welcome.

Martin

Is this the same as the 'Eriba Strip' that Unico and Van der Horn used to sell?
If so it's purpose is to increase the gutter capacity to remove rain water more quickly, before it inundates the fabric I think.

Thank you both, I will give it a try this weekend but hopefully won't need it if the forecast holds good.

The plastic strip definitely forms a watertight gutter and with the plastic material attached to the awningbead tape folded over it very effectively stops water entering via the awning bead or the stitching. We've had some torrential downpours recently with water flooding off the roof gutters but nothing leaking inside the Walker awning. By the way I have been removing the Eriba strip when I take the awning down for fear of it becoming dislodged during transit. Storage of the unwieldy strip is a challenge but is seems to be ok loosely coiled lying under our bed which we leave made up. I don't think it's a good idea to coil the strip too tightly for storage in a small under seat locker because it could become deformed.

Agree - the first time we erected our Walker awning for real in the Black Forest a short while ago there was the mother and father of all thunderstorms on the first night and the awning stood up to all of it with not a drop of the wet stuff entering anywhere. Our Triton 430 is of the variety that has the permanent double bed so we simply lay the white strip folded tip to tip on the bed with the ends cello-taped together.
