Hi Melanie,

The tables in Hymers of this age are very heavy and lots of owners have modified them out of other materials to save weight and make them easier to negociate when sitting down.We travel without our rear table as the bed stays made up all the time, and without the table saves weight. Poles splayed across the gap via the small holes for support would support, either a board to fit the gap or check if the seat cushions have a solid base, with a cushion attached, thats how my rear double bed in my troll 530 work, then to make the bed you move the seats to fill the gap and the backs of the seats go at the foot and under the pillows. If you do modify with a new board you could attach plastic clips to clip onto the poles and screwed into the board.Good luck with your rare and amazing vehicle.

fullsizeoutput_1cb8.jpeg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)Hi, I don't know if this helps but I found an image of a set up with the swing-out table. (Yours looks like it has the brackets for the table leg on the left there) The table top looks like it may lift out where I've circled in green and make the bridge for the bed, because you can just see a black rubber "stop" (circled in red) which, if there are 4 of them, would be to stop the table sliding around between two bars that would fit into the cut-outs that folk above mentioned. It does all sort of point to that table behind your seat, being the missing link. The only thing I'd say is that may make the middle section a bit higher than the seats, unless the back cushions that would make the up mattress, are not as thick as the seat cushions? Or else does the table span the gap and the black rubber stops hold it in place?...Craig

Would getting 2 poles that are long enough, then sliding the cushions do the job or am I over-simplifying things? Do the cushions have a solid base like the big bed ones?

Do the seat cushions have hard bases. If they do the would probably move inwards (sitting on the non existent poles) with the seat backs dropping in to fill the gaps at the top and bottom. Wickes do a 20mm steel tube for about £8 each 1m long, and try to find a couple of plastic ends.
Sorry a bit of duplication there. I should have ... RTPP (read the previous post!).
