Insurance

I had occasion to check my insurance the other day { just tidying up } The requirements are that it has a hitch lock and a wheel clamp when stored. Stored includes off site, in a storage area AND at home. I like to protect my tyres against sunshine, so have moved the wheel clamp onto the nearside wheel as that gets very little sunshine as it is against my neighbours fence. I was going to fit a winter wheel to the offside, enabling me to hide that tyre in a dark place. I decided to check with my insurance company and the upshot was that ' If you fit a winter wheel then your insurance will not be valid if there is a fire as you will not be able to move the van '
Bearing in mind that there is a wheel clamp on, as well as a hitch lock, corner steadies down and a 6kg gas bottle in the locker, the last thing I would be doing is trying to move it anywhere !!

How say you ?

I'd let it burn. The limited time you have would be better spent on other things.

Couldn't you fit something similar to one of these?

Just jack that side up enough to trap the open end under the tyre and Robert's your mother's brother.

It’s a nice idea, but a big yellow winter wheel can be seen from the footpath ! A visual deterrent.
