I need 2 new tyres, currently got original barum 185R14C. Anyone replaced there’s in the last month or 2 and got a fairly decent DOT code with them?
Thanks.

Thanks Colin I’ve have now read that post and it was very helpful. Decided to order a pair of Uniroyals from Asda and if the dot code is too old they’ll be refunded.

FYI - On our previous van (Gobur folding) we had 2 sets of tyres during our ownership - the first were A-rated rolling resistance (Michelin Energy) and the second was Uniroyal which were E-rated (which I had failed to spot when buying - duh!). The difference in fuel economy was about 10% worse (from 33 to 30 using a 2L petrol car) and there was noticeably more drag.

The payback time for the higher price Michelins was surprisingly short. But you can’t get those Michelins any more and the best I’ve seen available now are C-rated (Uniroyals in the 185 R14 size seem to be this).

I’ve been in the tyre business for a lifetime and on my 320 eriba I’ve fitted 185/70r13 Vredestein All season. Reasons, first I wouldn’t put a Chinese tyre on a wheel barrow let alone something I was driving/towing. 2nd it’s not the world’s most popular size & to get a quality tyre that’s also an all season tyre when I’m hoping to caravan in cold weather. Statistic, Michelin quotes at only 50 mph on nothing more than cold wet tarmac comparing their summer & winter tyres gives 6 meters difference!! So stopping, cornering, on the twist roads where I’m usually on it handles a dream. And last having a motor mover I like to think it gives me better traction if I was any where steep on grass etc
