Just wondered if anyone had a recommendation for a wi-fi range extender or even better, does anyone make an aerial - router package that doesn't need a sim card. i have an old iPhone 6s and they don't have a aerial socket and a aerial/router package would be handy. I don't use it a lot but it would be handy for looking up various things BUT with out having an extra sim card nonsense. You shouldn't need to have 2 sim cards

Not quite what you are asking but I have recently started using a Vodafone 4G mobile hotspot gizmo for internet connections when out and about - I need to use a laptop for my work when we are away in the Triton. Costs from £10 a month for 4GB of data. Very good bit of kit and gives a far better connection (so long as there is a suitable signal) than many site wi-fi setups.

Wifi extenders do not use sim cards. As a wifi extender, I use one of these Link,

If you would like a simple mobile phone hotspot, you can get them with aerials you can plug in like the Huawei E5577 we have, but I suspect you'll have to buy it from China now. Obviously, there are fancier routers you can use, a google on motorhome wifi will give you plenty of options. There are companies that sell packages but these are simply re-badged kit it is far cheaper to buy singly.

I am not a techie, I do not use a mobile phone [Mrs eM does] I don't have cable at home etc. I linke things simple.
When away I choose sites with free wi-fi. On the outside of the van I have a sucker mounted booster by Motorhome WiFi. It is not cheap but will reach over 200m at times and boost the available signal. This feeds my tablet and Mrs eM's phone. https://www.motorhomewifi.com/product/ib...ctional-system/
A month or so ago on the C&MC site I posted this, which I thought I'd also done on this forum. It may be of use.:-

Just back from the 3 shop and some good news, for me anyway. The deal which looks excellent for UK use and promising for Europe is:-
4 G Hub for home with card, plug and play, no line needed, link to tablet, laptop, TV for streaming, phone for wi-fi etc, £14 per month for 24 months
https://www.three.co.uk/Huawei/4G-Hub/hb...undle=HBBDevice
4G Mifi router with card that you can use anywhere in UK where a signal is available and abroad for £2 a day, £11 per month for 24 months available if you buy at the same time. BUT you cancel the contract after 1 month, keep the unit, take the card out and whenever you go away in the van/motorhome etc take the card out of your home router.

I was in the shop told the Europe roaming was free, but I've checked the website and as I thought earlier you have to pay a daily charge.
Also being offered if you buy at the same time is a £10 per month contract with unlimited internet, calls and texts.

O2 are the only company still offering roaming in Europe as part of the standard voice and data bundle for new contracts.
