Truma retrofit? (news about current builds)

Hi
We have an Ocean drive on order and think it will be one of the last to be built. Spoke to dealer today and was told that it will be coming with a gas only Truma heater because Eriba can’t get the parts?
Assuming this is true I’m not overly keen on using gas heating (it doesn’t play well with my Asthma for starters). Obviously not a lot I can do about it at the moment, but would it be possible at a later date to retrofit a dual gas/electric heater?
Thanks!

Yes you can buy and retrofit the Ultraheat element and control to the existing heater quite easily.
I have done this on our Troll and previous Familia.

I fitted an electric element in mine, fortunately it already had the blown air system installed. It wasn't difficult.

The Truma Ultraheat (30403-02) is now discontinued although a few suppliers do have old stock of complete units.

Spares are still available in good supply.

I'll update here as soon as I have any further info.

It seems odd that that Truma have discontinued making the Ultraheat kit, there must be thousands of owners out there like myself who will eventually need some kind of repair?
I very rarely use gas, I mainly use the ultraheat element.

If you can still buy the kits can your dealer not retrospectively fit it for you, when I bought my first Familia 320 Automotive leisure fitted one for me before It was delivered.

That's not good. The heater chunks through gas and after all you're paying for the electicity already when on EHU. The 'Electric auxilliary heating' option still appears on the configurator for the new (2023) models. Can you say who the dealer is?

We bought our 2022 Troll from Leisure First but the ultraheat wasn't available to be fitted as requested. I searched and managed to source the Ultraheat seperately to be fitted later

Out of interest I contacted Truma and received the following replyI, 'The Ultraheat is still a current product, with no plans to discontinue'.

Can you fit an Ultraheat element to a 2005 Truma gas heater? Do you have to have the blown heating installed? We don't have that. I currently carry an 800 watt oil filled radiator to use on sites, but would love not to have to carry something extra...

I looked at this conversion before and came to the conclusion that the payback period over gas was far too long for me. You can buy an awful lot of extra gas for £350!
I currently get through about 2 x 6kg cylinders a year, most of which goes on fridge and cooking. A quick blast of the heater on cold mornings for 5 minutes and maybe a bit more on a cold evening.

Different I guess for those that camp through the winter though.

You also need to factor in the cost of EHU which is becoming extortionate!
