Eriba 540GT gas heater issue?

Hi - the heater in our 2022 van seems to heat it adequately but appears to stop and restart a lot - ie the flame goes out and it clicks to relight fairly often. It invariably relights but I’m unsure if this is an issue or not? Any thoughts gratefully received. Thank you

You will need to use the external chimney extension, wind is buffeting from the poptop canvas and down the chimney.

Good call PopTop - I'd forgotten that we had issues with ours in wind until we got the extension.

Part of reason for memory lapse is that we haven't used the gas heating for several years. We now prefer to use an oil-filled radiator for background heating and a quiet fan-heater to supplement this in really cold weather.

We always use an EHU these days our off-grid days are gone.

Thanks all. It is a little breezy, but not really what I’d call windy. We are in a fairly sheltered location. And I do have the extension fitted at the moment. I have noticed that it seems to burn at two rates - full tilt when I presume it is heating the van and a slower rate when I presume it senses the van is up to temp. The issue seems to occur when the latter is true?

Thanks for all the comments. Maybe we should investigate the oil filled radiator thing? We don’t often do depths of winter trips, and then the 3.5 kW of gas heater was a real boon.

I use two extension pipes so that it clears the roof, if it cuts out and you can hear it tick ticking to try and reignite then it is the wind blowing it out, it only takes a slight breeze.
You can see my chimney extension in the photo

Hi Poptop - where did you get your window awnings from? They look good!

Thanks Russel, Mrs Poptop made them, we did a paper template first and got some material from IKEA and a kieder awning rail. It’s kept to place with some knicker elastic.
