Kitchen sink plug hole on New vans

Has anybody replaced the combined drainer/plug fitted to the kitchen sink on New vans. I know this will mean a new trap. The original is designed to act as a drainer, or if rotated slightly drop down and produce a plug type seal.It does not do the later and is absolutely useless. The sink empties as you are doing the washing up.

One way to make the problem go away Colin is to leave the washing up to Lizzie.

If I knew how to control this "Smart" phone I'd happily do so. I'm trying to get the image down from 4.2 meg. Oh, I might have done it.

We use a round basin. Stops the sink being scratched.

I've recently fitted this new strainer as the previous Smev one had broken. It's a stainless steel McAlpine (MBSWSS85) unit made to fit a Belfast sink. Relatively straightforward swap using a couple of waste adaptors to fit existing pipework.
It works so much better than the Smev unit which clogged up at the smallest of pieces to enter it.

Colin,
Isn’t there supposed to be an o-ring at the bottom of the plug?
We’ve got the plastic pale-imitation version in our 21 model, and lost said seal early-doors.

Ours does have the O ring. After a bit of searching I think a replacement might be a part stocked by Leisureshop Direct, the Domestic Siphon AC557
E-bay are also showing a couple of candidates from Hymer motorhomes, one with a 32mm plug and I think a more likely candidate with a 38mm plug.
When we get home I'll probably dig deeper into this if I'm still not happy with it
