I have been looking at having my 1.6 diesel 2013 Octavia remapped, it will take the torque from 250 to 330. Now towing at 900kgs at present it is fine until I come to a hill, this results in me dropping down to 3rd and approx 30mph.
Now, for anyone out there that understands this stuff and has no financial gain, will this improve the towing ability uphill, I am not interested in the increased bhp( 105 to 129) as much as the torque.
All clean comments welcome.

For what it's worth, I'd look on Briskoda, as Colin suggested.
I'm not sure I should say this really, but the information on there - and there is lots about remapping - is a trial to read sometimes.
Not because you won't find what you need, because you almost certainly will, but it's bit of a chore to plough through dozens of turgid posts written by stuffy, self-important old geezers with no sense of humour whatsoever.
The threads on there hardly ever wander off at a tangent, which ours do.
A lot.
And our forum is all the better for it.

Briskoda was sort of helpful but seemed more about speed than torque so I asked the experts for the simple answer and "Yes it will" is what I needed,
many thanks
Even though I'm no expert, I didn’t think it would be as easy as that 😆
I would humbly suggest that if you do get it remapped, don’t go for the cheapest option.
It’s definitely worth spending a bit more to get it done by an outfit who know what they’re doing and have been given the thumbs up by the many thousand internet petrolheads.
I’ve only got the experience of one company to draw on, and that’s Racingline. There are obviously lots and lots of others.
I did quite a lot of research before choosing Racingline; one of the main reasons for using them is that they are a big, professional set-up, essentially an offshoot of the competition arm of Volkswagen themselves.
And it was done at the Skoda dealership I bought the car from - they are Racingline franchisees - which might be helpful if something does go pear-shaped. Well, it's more likely to than if I'd had it done behind a door covered in misspelled rude words under a railway arch.
As I said, it’s only my experience of one company, and I’m not carrying a torch for them in any sense.
One last thing. If your car is still in warranty a remap will almost certainly void it, but only for things demonstrably powertrain-related, not the whole kit and kaboodle.
And one more last thing.
If your car has electronic systems which are routinely updated at a main dealer service, make sure you tell them it's mapped because it's entirely likely that an engine control unit update will make the new map disappear.

That's the advantage of dealer offered remaps - Polestar remaps for Volvos are not affected by any later upgrades to anything else in the vehicle. They are generally only relatively mild upgrades that will definitely not over stress other components such as clutches and gearboxes. But, on the downside, they do cost a lot...
The interesting one is companies like BMW, for instance, who offer the same engine in many different levels of tune. In theory, as long as all the other plugged in bits will cope, you can take the "cheap" 1 series, for example, and turn it into the much hotter version. It's just the same engine in different states of tune. However, the brakes and tyres will need to be up to that extra power - and your insurer will have a view on that. Skid off a wet, greasy road and you might find your insurer won't pay out, even though it's nothing to do with having more power... With the Volvos I have owned I have stuck to the Polestar upgrade (or similar uplift levels done by a reputable remapper) and have had that agreed by my insurer. As I am insured through Volvo, the Polestar upgrade warrants no extra charge.
If you do go down the route of a plug-in box remap, beware. That is a piece of hardware that a vehicle inspector will definitely find if he is investigating during a claim.

A highly respected company for this is Celtic Tuning. They have agents throughout the country, but they are actually in Newquay, only about an hour from you. If you use the dealer locator link on their website you will find one is less than 10 miles from you.

Michael, I'm guessing it may have been a few years ago. Tune-it plug in boxes were I think the first stage in getting a bit more oomph. They were fairly generic and a case of one size fits many. Things seem to have moved on a lot and now the ECU remaps available are tailor made to your vehicle. I believe the prices are also very reasonable. Some vehicles do not appear to have readily available remaps though, and I know mine is one of them.
