Hello! New to caravans, experienced camper needing some help

We are looking at purchasing an Eriba 430GT, apparent vintage is 2012, but if I use the VIN look up info from elsewhere it would appear to be a 2004 model.
The VIN is WHYTRTN0040300455, with character 10 meant to show the age, in this case 2004. The ‘van was purchased from a reputable dealer, with the invoice clearly stating 2012 as year of manufacture,
Does this mean that Eriba don’t follow convention? Also, if the van is a 2012 model does that mean that it is galvanised throughout?
Many thanks in advance.
Mark

Hi Mark and welcome to Eribafolk.

The Vin numbers on modern Eribas is a bit iffy as the lists that are available were produced by members sending in details of their vans, date manufactured and Vin number. It'd be a good idea for post 2009 van owners to perhaps produce a list which we could organise on here?

Regarding the differences between a 2004 Triton and a 2012 Triton, there are some noticeable differences which you should be able to detext. See below the roof area and pop top. On the 2004 the curved area between the sides and the roof are far greater whereas that area on post 2009 vans are quite shallow. This is to increase the door height.

Also 2004 Eribas as is for the rest of the range between 2001 and 2009 are only ever two coloured, white above and silver below. Vans after 2009 could have the same colours but many are full white etc. The rear light clusters are also different so if you have a pic that you can post we can ease your mind by discovering the correct age or should we say post 2009 as opposed to pre 2009.

That was a quick turnaround, thank you. Photo of the van’s rear and side attached.
And, because I know they need changing, where is the best place for tyres for caravans? ATS or similar or a specialist?
Many thanks
Mark

Welcome Mark. I'm a bit confused by your Triton as it still seems to be up for sale on e-bay. Werbung: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/167101316006?...ABk9SR47knfnrZA

Hi Mark. Definitely a post 2009 van so 2012 seems right

Not yet purchased, was concerned that the VIN plate appeared to show an 04 van, but then if Eriba don’t comply… aarrrggh 😀

It seems to be what it is stated to be, thanks for the help.

The VIN plate on a pre 2010 van will read 'Fabrique en France', whereas since 2010 they've been made in Germany.
