I had some replacement tyres on my Eriba troll the other day and the tyre fitter couldn't find the plate that's on caravans regarding torque settings and the weight of the caravan etc. He said its a legal requirement only I've looked everywhere and I can't find this particular plate anywhere can someone enlighten me on this please....cheers Phil.

On pre 2010/12 vans it is on a plate to be found to the side of the habitation door. I'm guessing yours is a newer van and you should find it inside the front gas locker, probably hidden behind a gas bottle. This was ours on a 2017 Triton.

I do not believe there is a legal requirement regarding to show the torque settings. This should be in your owners manual, 100N/m for steel wheels and 120N/m for alloy wheels.

Hymer (Eriba) vans have always had their weight plates in the format required by law and international convention, currently this is as per the Triton one illustrated showing VIN number, MTPLM, hitch limit and axle limit. Axles 2 and 3 are for vehicles with three axles

The UK caravan industry put the formal plate inside the gas locker but as members of the NCC they are required to exhibit a plate with additional information on the outside of the van. That additional info includes tyre pressure and wheel bolt torque. In the case of UK manufacturers vans the MTPLM is usually downplated from the axle limit, using the NCC's minimum payload formula which gives 10kg per metre length plus 10kg per berth plus 50kg for a basket of caravanning items. Continental manufacturers tend not to downplate but just provide a sensible payload at whatever the axle limit is.

As Hymer Gmbh aren't NCC members they don't have to comply with the trade associations requirements.

Cheers for that Colin I'll have a look In the locker.
To be honest the tyre fitter came to my house and he put 50 psi in the new tyres I think they look a bit on the soft side so he didn't fill me full of confidence ....phil
