Yes he's fine. We had an on line chat last week. He's having a bit of a break from the 'old computer as he's got a lot on his hands at the moment but he still logs in every couple of days for a nose around. Hopefully he'll tell you what's keeping him busy when he next visits us.

Quote Me :- My plan is to start the run of the 2 x coils of lighting from above the wash room cabinet and to eventually put a 13 amp socket on the side of the high level cupboard/shelf adjacent to the wash room, in the front dinette area. Therefore a very short run of cable with adaptor.
Well, that's the plan anyway....
Look what I've just found !! A live euro socket in the wash room. The plan gets better. The reason for it being a euro socket by the way is because ours is a Dutch van which had all its sockets converted to GB when imported but they obviously overlooked this one.
We've not noticed it before because we only use the loo in the dark...

We only found our extra socket a few weeks after ownership as they'd sneakely located it on top of the wardrobe. Someone else who didn't recognise an 'F' socket also came across one lately. These extras seem to be located near the bathroom so I'd hesitate a guess and say that they are provided for the old shaver and hair dryer etc.

Got around to fitting the new LED light strips to the van yesterday and powered them up using the euro socket in the washroom.
We started the two runs of lights from above the high level cupboard in the washroom so the length of electrical cable from the adaptor plug to the first light is minimal and is out of sight unless you purposely look for it.
The reels of lights and adaptor are described and linked to in an earlier post. The reels are sticky backed but as can be seen on photo A and B, are quite delicate. The first reel of lights was run clockwise just below the rim of the pop top aluminium strip and the second reel, anti clockwise. The reels were each shortened at the appropriate cutting indicator where they met one another at the opposite side of the van. To make sure that they met neatly, we measured, cut and ran the reels from that point back towards the power source. The depth of the light strip is small enough (about 8mm) to pass above the pop top handle locators and the reels are flexible enough to stick across the two plastic jointing covers of the aluminium strip.
The verdict. Very effective but the jury's out regarding whether they are a bit distracting or not to live with. Mrs R is happy so that's 99% for, I'm not sure as we've not had time to trial them. It was too late and too dark to do anything much other than photograph them...

We stayed in a 'hotel' in Townsville that had lighting like that!
The late night sound effects proved that it was a special kind of short stay hotel......if you get what I mean. 😳
If you find the light a bit too much 'in your face' then you could mount them in U shaped plastic or aluminium profile then mount the profile so that you still get the light but the actual LEDs are shielded from view.

Yes, the above statement has just confirmed our suspicions about you...

Well you've certainly done a fine job there, Roger, and I can only add to the comment made by Frantone above by saying.......'well it takes all sorts'.
One question though - what's this clamp thing on the shelf when it's at home? Um.jpg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)

Yes, too right squire. I seem to remember seeing a photo of your set up recently complete with potted plant in the awning etc etc
The clamp thing on the shelf IS at home. it's a small flexible necked, battery operated, reading light. And very good it is too (can't remember what they're called). Or are you referring to the black "U" shapes clamp in front of it?
If so, we had 3 or 4 of these delivered as a packaging aid for something or other and they are just right to push over the pelmets if you need to keep a TV aerial cable or similar from hanging down.

Ah, ok then. I thought it was a cable leading out of the window but that presumably is the flexible part of the light. Oh, and I thought the potted plant added to the........er........ambience of the awning. It was the make-believe garden centre inside the van that I objected too.

This is the type of light we are talking about. We have two (one each side of the dinette) but the beauty of them is that they can be used anywhere and they have very good battery life. Wish they had them in purple when we bought them a couple of years ago.
